Stone Age Mod for 3.19

Arakhor that may be, but this is the first mod that i've seen that doesn't work on vista ._. hell the first mod that even needs a special thing for vista i really wish this would work cause it seems like fun :D

That's not true. Other mods have or had issues with Vista too like History in the Making.

Yeah ... It needs some rework. Unfortunately, I don't have enough time to take care of it now. I've got too much to do these days so, if anyone desires to manage it, I would be very grateful for it. I'm sorry all Vista players won't be able to play this Mod .

oh don't get me wrong! i'm totally grateful you made this mod! i'm not trying to undermine the effort you put into this! it's a free mod, you don't owe us anything  but yeah a vista patch would be nice. sucks i know nothing bout programing or i'd give it a shot

.

Same here, never had any issues with CIV mods on my Vista. The DLL library from the second post solves nothing for me either :(

you should add CAR to ur mod if u dont have it already, and did you think about adding nextwar if they'll let you, cuz that would be cool.

You are aware that this is the Stone Age mod and that Next War is a futuristic one?

this is my fav mod (played early version).
however since uping to bts v3.19 i have had a few mod ctd probs. i too hav xperiancd ctd whenever loading stoneage 2.9, the dll patch made no diff., stoneage v2.58 crashed around 100 turns also. be sure to let us know how that "Virtual PC 2007" works 4u. i'll see if i can try it during weekend. i wonder if the early stoneage versn will work with bts 3.19 so at least i'll have one working versn. i really hope someone gets this mod fixd it is a truly great and innovative mod.

But this is the Stone Age mod, not the Stone Age & Next War mod. Surely that's obvious?

Alas, you apparently need to buy a copy of XP to make it work. More than I want to spend to see if a mod MIGHT work. Yes, it's a genius mod, very compelling gameplay. Guess we'll just have to wait for someone who wants to take this up.

Great mod. 2 buts:
1. unit cost in the early game is just too killing. I basically have to disband units to keep my science going (barbs loge is therfeore useful just for spy points). You should increase the number of free units
2. the transition between gathering and sedentary lifestyle is just too brutal economically and scientifically: you lose precious commerce (best terrain goes down from 2 with tribalism to only one) and the only scientific building you have (knowlage transmission) is obsolete

could you possibly make available, and post a link to the last known vista compatible version of stone age? it is my fav mod (v1.53?) but i deleted the older v and these latter ones are not vista compatible.
thank you very much, NZ

Hello everybody,

I've managed to get some time to take a look at this problem with Stone Age on Windows Vista.

For all Vista Players ... do those CTD issues have also appeared on pre-lastest version? This information is very important because maybe the problem is with one of the lastest add-ons. I will also need the Saved Game files where the CTD is about to happen. I've gotten a Laptop with Windows Vista to check if everything is going well. Please, post the Saved Game files or send them to the following e-mail

  • Otto.Davila.Flores@live.com

Hope to get many of them ;)

I'll keep posting for any news.

what are the seperate SDK files about?
with v2.90 seems most of us crash, after choosing settings and preferences, with "play now" or custom game" while the game is loading so there won't be save files, can you use the dxdiag files after crash?
v2.50 crashes when i try to load the mod, i never even get to the menu.
i'll play 2.58 and send you the save files.

Are you planning any changes ? ... generally speaking Great Mod m8 :)

I'll first try to fix the DLL. I'll have to make a new DLL starting from 0 and running under Windows Vista. There are many changes that are not really needed and could be the cause of the CTD. There we have the validations for Seafaring Trait and the Hawk unit (they should not really belong to the mod, but I added them as I was testing with the SDK ).

I will also have to test every DLL and check that no CTD happen so we can start playing under Windows Vista without having critial issues. It will take sometime since there is too much code there :crazyeye:, but I think it will be fine to be able to play lastest version. I really found it very balanced and completely fair. However, it is possible that some features won't be available (if they cause the CTD).

I will need to prepare a Windows Vista lab to have real tests. I will keep posting for any news ;)

By the way, thanks for playing this MOD :D.

Well ... I'm now creating the MOD from the beggining . You know, the XML version first. I'll start with the Tech Tree. After that I'll add the new Eras and well ... I think I will let the art stuff to the end of the XML version. No DLL will be added until I have a complete stable XML version. Hope this will work :crazyeye:

Good Lord, Triturador! That's a complex undertaking! I hope it won't take you too long.
