Stone Age Mod for 3.19

Couple other things -
There seems to be a "vs Animals" and a distinct "vs Wild Animals" bonus ... shouldn't these be the same, or are there non-wild Animal Encounters that the "vs Wild Animals" bonus wouldn't apply to?

And I noticed the hunting food yield (when an Atlatl kills something) does not get applied toward a food-consuming build (such as a Tribe) but always goes to the food stores. Is this intentional?

I d/l'd your mod and installed it and then the XXL optional addition and then the Vista patch in the second message. I am running 64-bit Vista...and it crashes immediately after I choose custom game options. Has anyone exxperienced any probs with 64-bit Windows Vista? Am I doing something wrong?

Please, read the second post of this Thread ;). There you will find the solution.

The second message int he thread just describes how to install the Vista patch, which consists of a renamed dll to place in the assets folder. That was the last thing I did. You seem to be implying that there is another step. If there is, it is not in the second message of the thread. What am I missing?

I had the same thing happen to me in the "Custom Game" Option with Vista. I then tried the "Play Now" option in the menu, and it went fine until 16500 B.C., when I made my first contact with another civilization. Then it crashed. The Vista version may still need some work.

But the gameplay is definitely compelling! I am totally looking forward to a finished version.

me too! I was smacking my chops to get at this mod. It was quite annoying watching it crash everytime I finished making selections and started the game before I even got a chance to play a turn! Oh well. I hope it gets more stable because I really am looking forward to playing it. I tried doing a "custom game" and the "Play now" option and it crashes on me both times.

I keep getting a message that my population exceeds the Domination Limit. What's that about?

That simply means that you've met one of the parameters for winning a Domination victory. You can always turn the message off in the BUG options section.

Great work, man!

STONE AGE works well... good graphics, intelligent technology tree and some innovative concepts... :)

but after a lot of turns, we're back to the old Civilization... :cry:

If you allow a few suggestions:

-> more ancient tecnologies (weaving clothes; tanning leather) and resources (clay, leather, wool, cotton, linen);

-> more limitations for units and buildings... many buildings and units would require a resource and this would make the search for resources to become compulsory... indeed, the same rules that limit swordsman and axeman could limit other units (no obisidian or stone? well, no spearman... no wood? well, no boats or palisades)

-> the initial construction of the city could be delayed, using camps (from Warlords' Genghis Khan)... you start with one camp and one atlatl, the city could only be built after a quantity of food being assembled... camps spawn 1 atlatl in 10-15 turns but camps not generate research... this would make hunting compulsory...

Currently, you can stay within the city for centuries, not to take risks and still win the game... :sad:

Sorry for my bad English... I'm brazilian...

Welcome to CivFanatics! :clap::hatsoff::band:

In the same line... so you don't need read twice:

-> you can create hunting parties... significantly increasing the reward for hunting an elephant (40 food ?), but also increasing strength ... so that it is impossible for a solitary hunter to kill and forcing to use many atlatl... more risks, more reward...

Obviously that would mean death to the unlucky hunter who found an elephant... but he can always run for his life... :lol:

-> I'm not sure ... apparently there is a mismatch between cost of construction and cost of technology... so, shortly after construction of "Knowledge Inheritance", I reach "Cultural Expansion" and "Knowledge Inheritance" becames obsolete...:mad:

You can change technology tree or increase costs of tecnology...

____________

Thank you, Arakhor.

I read this forum for years... my bad English prevented my contribution... my English is not improved... I lost the shame...

Well, Triturador is Peruvian, so at least you're in good South American company :)

For those of you that are crashing under vista in 2.90 with the fix are you playing with XXL World extras or just Stone Age its self? i am wondering if the cause is from not having the full XXL world Mod installed also.

Count me in for having crashes under Vista x86. It happens when I'm trying to play a custom game, and it's related to CvGameCoreDLL.dll. I don't use XXL World extras.

I tried that, and I got the same result. Major Bummer!:cry:

Hmmmm so, that means the Vista Patch isn't working well at all. Have you all tried with the Vista DLL that has been posted in the 2nd post? There is a link to download a DLL for the ones who are playing under Windows Vista. :confused:

Yep. I tried it all. I even tried the 2.58 version, which seems to work, until it crashes around turn 100. I don't know if they're related.

In the Quot Capita thread, I think it was Avain who was saying that Vista is a lot less forgiving towards modding. Where XP might give something a pass, Vista will reject it and you'll need to make sure you have done it absolutely perfectly, rather than just acceptably.

Arakhor that may be, but this is the first mod that i've seen that doesn't work on vista ._. hell the first mod that even needs a special thing for vista i really wish this would work cause it seems like fun :D
