    AriochIV:

I, too, would like to thank you for putting the Analyst Page together. I especially found interesting the information on the civ of hot blue alien elf chicks. It looks like I started coming to civfanatics at the right time.

I think you can add "clam" as resource, it is in the Middle strat screen,
    see attached pic...

AriochIV, I miss Calendar from your tech-list...

(shouldn't be a thread for discussing your site?)

Heh. "It's always better with hot blue elf alien chicks."

Dang, I forgot it somehow. Thanks for pointing that out.

I have the water resource listed as Whales, but just because that's one we know exists. The image is too small to see, so it could be anything.

Same with the other one you mentioned... so tiny it could be anything. Wine and Cotton are the plantation-improved ones we already know about but haven't seen an icon for yet. I'll put it on the page as "unknown" so people know I saw it.

How do the moderators feel about that? Would it be possible to split off the off-topic part of this thread into an Analyst thread?

Just start a new thread. It's not going to get closed or anything like that.

    I am 99% sure that it's "clam",
see that the improvement icon (on the left) for it is almost sure "beads" in shells...

The improvement is fish in nets (see Sailing on the tech tree) and is the same icon for fish.

    Wow.

Of all the things I ever mentioned in the interminable "what would you like to see in Civ V" discussions, "something that conveys information cleanly and simply in a Civ 1-like top down view with no graphic fluff" was probably the one I least expected to actually see.

    Thank you.

I wouldn't play the game in this view, but as a large-scale strategic overview, I think it looks great. Certainly more useful than the Civ IV globe view, which is a gadget you forget about after the first 2 or 3 times you push the button.

i agree plus i think its a lot clearer to see an overview of your empire in this screen than it was on the overlay in civ 4.

This view will be especially useful to those of you that aren't quite matching the minimum requirements: I heard from one of the preview sites that the game runs noticeably faster in Strategic View, and you can do everything there that can be done in 3-D view. So if you're really in it just for the gameplay, it shouldn't be a problem, but I'm glad I have the hardware to be able to go back and forth :D

Quick, dumb question: How do I change the game to Strategic View? (Yes, I have received the game.)

    Thanks in advance. :)

There is a button at the bottom left of your minimap.

And the strategic map isn't really playable in my opinion, but feel free to find that out yourself. They should have put the time to implement this into the AI (yes, I know, different pogrammers etc...)

Isn't that what strategic war games looked like 15 years ago?

TLF: Yes, when Civ 1 came out, 20 odd years ago!!!

Todd Hawks: Thanks........I just found out that the F10 key does it as well. :)
