In my opinion that sounds little alarming. If that ever happens to a city, where I have religious shrine or where I have built one or more world wonders, I probably switch off the random events.

I'm pretty sure they removed the possiblity of a random event destroying a city from later builds of BTS.

I think one of the Firaxis guys said their testers found that "unfun"

I believe his exact words were, "our testers were ready to kill us." So yes, that has been removed.

One thing I did notice, in a Trade Screen Gilgamesh was going to give Winstone Iron... and Winstone already Had 5 Iron. So we can get multiple copies of resources from our Vassals to help run our Corporations/allow us to trade it rather than them (or just because we don't want our Vassal building nukes).

Really? Interesting.... they're taking more steps toward quantified resources every day!

So we can get multiple copies of resources from our Vassals to help run our Corporations/allow us to trade it rather than them (or just because we don't want our Vassal building nukes).

That's good news.
It will add a lot of strategy to the game.

Your gift of perception is quite remarkable.

You might be able to sell the resource to another civ with a profit as well, something that I've been wanting to do for a while.

Maybe there had been an earlier deal between them for iron that Winstone had neglected to cancel after obtaining iron of his own?

I've read about the possibility of trading for resources that you already own before. I don't know where I've read it. There have been so many articles that I won't be able to find it again easily.
