I probably won't play this - too much other things to do - but I don't think the basic idea is bad. But you should probably have fewer civs - one obvious course of action would be merging the EU countries into one.
Maybe I will take a look at the fewer civ idea, as many have said this would be good
And as I said before I am in the minority that love small maps and this was made for those people
Doubt I will really get into this as I am playin CIV4 too much
