Strong Female Leaders

I like some of those, but some of them are just "so and so's wife" or stuff like that. Leaders should be influential, not simply married to someone who was.

That's true, but sometimes women who are married to influential men become influential in their own right, like Theodora or Eleanor Roosevelt.

Right, but you included the word "sometimes" in your sentence, which is my point. Eleanor Roosevelt was influential because she was an influential person who happened to be married to another influential person, therefore making her more influential. The same can even be said of Queen Isabella of Spain.
It can't be said of Laura Bush. She was married to someone influential, but isn't really known for much more than that.

Agreed. Some of the ideas thrown around are really good though and they were really influential. Would like to see them in future Civ installments

Many good names thrown around. I hope the devs find this thread and carefully consider their options for female leaders. Some of their choices for female leaders in past incantations of civ have been rather... questionable (I won't name any names to avoid debates about worthiness; well, except for Shakala in Civ2, that was ridiculous. Okay and having random goddesses and mythological figures like Amaterasu and Schzerade in Civ2 was also ridiculous.).

Any ideas for female leaders for civs not in Civ yet? The Trung Sisters for Vietnam and Tribhuwana for Majapahit/Indonesia have already been mentioned and both are extremely solid cases (in the case of Vietnam I believe they're probably easily the top three best choices for Vietnamese leader). Tamar of Georgia would be good (she's considered one of Georgia's best rulers), as well as Matilda of Tuscany for Italy (any CKII player should know that), though I can't think of anyone off the top of my head right now.

Just to beat a dead horse, Eva Peron for Argentina. Nur Jahan would be a decent choice for the Mughals; not the best choice, but I would put her in my top three leaders for them. Nubia has a few good options, though I'm only familiar with Amanirenas. I think people have said the Ukraine/Kievan Rus has some decent options, like Olga, but I feel like there are others. Another name I forget is the leader of the Mississippians, but she sounds like one of the only options, so that's good. If they really wanted to push it, the could have Wilma Mankiller for the Cherokee, but that would be a bit much. I don't know of any others, but I'm sure they're there.

Catherine has to be my favorite female Civ leader. Most people only know her as a sexually hyperactive flirtatious empress, which is a sad distortion of her created by popular culture. If the world was fair she would be remembered, like Peter the Great, as a liberal leader trying to bring the wonders of the civilized west to the backwater country of Russia.

Completely agree with the Catherine the Great thing. Forgot Yaa Asantewa in my list of female leaders though.
