New Emperor Inaugurated!
This morning, as the whole of the Ottoman Empire awaited anxiously, the new Emperor arose from his sleep and went to the inauguration ceremony. It was a grand celebration, with the most important people of the empire present to congratulate him. He was hand chosen by the previous emperor, who had no sons or daughters, if you recall. In his speech, Attaturk hinted at several new directions for the Ottoman Empire.
Alliances to be Forged?
Already there are rumors of an Arabian pact with the Islamic nations to our south. If this is true, it is rather unsurprising considering the new Emperor's wish for a stronger Islamic bond rather than the bickering that exists at present. But another rumored move is the reformation of the old UK-Russia-Turkey alliance. Whether these rumors hold any truth to them has yet to be seen, but most diplomatic experts agree that the Emperor has made two solid diplomatic manuevers to ensure stability in the region.
Training to be Focal Point of New Emperor
For centuries, emperor's of old concentrated much on the size on the military, rather than its expertise or training. Not Attaturk, who says he wishes for a more experienced army, not one which was embarrassed in several incidents over the last few decades. He promises the Royal Army will be upgraded, and a new airforce will be built to counter that of other European nations. Whether it can rival thiers is another question entirely.
