I wonder if there many of the European posters here that are really getting sick of thre stupidety of monarchy in these modern times. Most of the Monarch's in europe have nothing to say (and nothing to do) anyway ,but they are good in spending the tax payers money.

I totally agree with you guy's!! Monarch's are absolutely useless!!

I have always wanted to see the abolition of the British Monarchy.
But I have heard that this would be costly... Well I say do it know before I'm old enough to pay taxes!!:goodjob:

Shoot, I wanna be a monarch... :p

How does one go about becoming a monarch anyways? Election?

I abousoulty detest the monarchy and a great deal of my fellow Brit's do to.
ALL POWER TO THE SOVIETS!!

The revolution is over, the Mods win again.

No more spamming, dudes, please get back on topic, or I'll have to get ugly! :satan:

Consider what has happened to the Afghans since their king was deposed. :satan: 's advocate.

Okay, I know I'm just a stupid arrogant American;), but seriously I don't understand. WHY is there still a Monarchy? I mean, this isn't the 15th century... Wouldn't something else be better? Obviously I don't know the pros and cons of this, but it seems a bit uh, outdated? Truthfully, I wouldn't have even known Sweden HAD a king... I never hear anything about Sweden except Modo and Forsberg and that's it.

There you had a king that actually did something for his country rather than only living it large on thre people's money. And such situations like Afhanistan can't happen in Europe. When the Afhani king was disposed it was a millitary coup ,in europe the monarch's are the supreme commanders of the army's.

This are the question we also ask ourselfs in Europe.

The Monarchs, do not, though, have any parlimentary power, do they? I know in the U.K. they don't, but I'm unsure about other nations.

The only "power" most monarch's have is that any new law must be signed by them before the have effect.Theoreticly ,they could decide wich law comes through and wich won't.but ,as it happened once in Belgium ,if the king doesn't wanna sign he has to give up his trone. (Our monarch did that for one day ,he didn't want to sign the abortion law (he had no kids))

Country's that (as far as i know) still have monarch's:

Belgium
Holland
United Kingdom
Spain
Portugal
Sweden
Norway
Luxemburg
Monaco
Marocco
Libanon
Lichtenstein
Syria

Correct (or add) if i'm wrong here.
