One more question - as we discover new technology, will there be new troop types eventually? And could we, after some time, change UU?

Fretigern was shocked. Athanarik was shocked. Rekagarth was drunk, so he wasn't shocked, but he doesn't matter.
The Ostrogoths agreed! They agreed on even less priveleges then Fretigern offered! The Gothic Nation was united! Needless to say, Fretigern decided he might as well start the search for the Elixir of Beer, if something like that unification has worked.
Ofcourse, there were minor problems. That old paranoic, Constantine II of Eastern Roman Empire, started fortifying his borders, and so did that Alani Kegan, Rheasus. Ulfilas crossed Danube and started spreading the Arianist Christianity. While neither Fretigern neither Athanaric converted, they did not have much against it, as all the converts still were good warriors, good hunters and good drinkers. They were Christian by faith, but Gothic in culture. And for all Fretigern cared, they could remain to be Christian, they could become Mithrian or Zoroastrian or some other -ian for all he cared, as long as they remain Goths.

We know you may be concerned by the Arianist Christianity, but you should not be. Those who converted may be Christian by religion, but they are still Gothic by culture. As long as they still are the good, brave and skilled fighters, hunters and drinkers, they are stilll Goths for all one cares, so we should let them be.
However, to strenghthen the Gothic culture, we need to take some measures. First, I propose that we start exploring the world of alchemy, to find the legendary Elixir of Beer. We also need to strenghthen our culture by having bards memorize and sing of the great tales of old. Perhaps to farther fortify our Union, we may also have a war against, oh say, Roxoliani - not immediately, but ten years from now we should be ready. The land we take from them will be yours.

Yes, barbarians may found thier first city free, after which a city costs 3 economy. cities increse the quality, the effciency, and moral of troops fighting in that area- if your founding your first city, it also helps you expansion into unclamed lands, as you have a center or control establishedconehead234 said:

oh, and yes, as new technologies are reserched, slowlly but surelly, new troops will ebncome availible, and while Ihave noot decided when, UUs can be changed at some point- it mayu be a player spefic event, like AAminions Roman reform seems liek the kind of thing, that if it had hapend in real life, and supposeing there was economy to back it, would have turned the clock on the legions, amking them into somthing more along the linees of the mid imperial- or, perhaps even the almighty early imperial legions...

It would also give an actuate count of military aged men to help the military to molbilize in times of war.
Mental note--increase the numbers of young men joining the priesthood/shamans, as the majority of educated population their help in admimisterating the growing land will be needed

Brendenberg, as the locals were calling it, was far from a huge beautiful capital that Froedrick wanted it to be. In fact, it wasnt much more than a few huts with pigs running around. Froedrick wanted this city to grow into the center of Northern Germanic culture. It was time for a city beautification. The first thing that had to go were the dirt roads.
Some city planners went ahead and made a map, of Froedricks plans of course, of what Brendenbur should look like in just 10 years. A grand network of stone roads went out. Within these roads would be the bildings that would support a great nation.
Then Froedrick was built a great home to be the center of governing. It woudl be beautiful, yet stone. A great symbol, yet also strong enough to act as the center of this warrior nation.
Finally the great city walls were built. Plenty of room was left within the city for it to grow. Froedrick expected it too. The walls were built strong to withstand the enemies of the Teutons. These were the best of walls, to surround a uniquely German city.
Froedrick wished to commemerate this great day with a grand feast! He sent a message out to the leaders of all the Germanic tribes
The message read:
Greetings gothic, and otherwise Germanic brothers! We wish to form a grand alliance of german tribes! We could call it the League of Germanic intrests or some other such name. Anyway, the important thing is that I would like to have the first meeting to commemerate the opening of the great hall of Brendenburg. It would be a grand honor to me and my people if this alliance were formed, as the Teutonic capital was constructed. Please consider coming!
