Subdued Animals in C2C discussions

Just happened to be a bug I was already working was all. ;)

Your problem wasn't with the eagle it was with recent DH changes. He may have already repaired it but the dll was set to handle the situation a little better as I tested with his changes in place without any repair.

I looked at art files (XML and NIF/DDS) and they look ok. After uploading this unit Ill resize texture to smaller one.

Here is a Barn Owl. They are surprisingly global species. As wikipedia says ...

The Barn Owl (Tyto alba) is the most widely distributed species of owl, and one of the most widespread of all birds. It is also referred to as Common Barn Owl, to distinguish it from other species in the barn owl family Tytonidae. These form one of two main lineages of living owls, the other being the typical owls (Strigidae). T. alba is found almost anywhere in the world except polar and desert regions, Asia north of the Alpide belt, most of Indonesia, and the Pacific islands. However, they have been introduced to control rodents in the Hawaiian island of Kauai.

Here is a picture of some of the new animals and even some newer already in the game.

Soem things I noticed while in world builder.

1. The new Rockhopper penfguin shows up as a HUGE red ball. I am guessing some tag or something is at fault since the African Penguin uses the same mesh and it showed up fine.

2. The Malaysian Tapir has a weird random spline. Perhaps Sparth could take a look at the mesh to see what's wrong with it.

3. The African Grey Parrots were set on group by accident. I am thinking they should only be a single unit.

4. S similar thing happened to the Caracal.

Ill look on these problems today and ill try to fix them.

Ok I looked at these animals and:
- penguin will be fixed today

- parrots and caracal - I cannot change code in SVN because these units are still out, but I found the problem: tag <iGroupSize> should be changed to 1
in Caracal_CIV4UnitInfos.xml and Africangrey_CIV4UnitInfos.xml

- Mal. Tapir looks ok for me. Can you post screenshot with that spline?

Paleolithic animal spawn areas at the moment are

Animals|
-180 to -60 (Americas)
|
-60 to 60 (Europe/Africa)
|
60 to 180 (Asia/Oceania)
|
Northern Hemisphere| Ground Sloth, Sabretooth, Mammoth, Dire Wolf | Cave Bear, Cave Lion, Mammoth, Dire Wolf| Cave Bear, Cave Lion, Mammoth, Dire Wolf
Southern Hemisphere| Ground Sloth, Sabretooth, Mammoth , Dire Wolf| Mammoth , Dire Wolf| Procoptodon, Moa, Haast's Eagle, Mammoth, Dire Wolf

Those in red should be removed but we would also need to add checks to the post map script to remove the mammoth resources from the southern hemisphere.

This makes the Africa region look a bit light. If we remove mammoth from the southern hemisphere Africa will be even less balanced.

Myth buildings| -180 to -60 | -60 to 60| 60 to 180
Northern| 4 | 4| 4
Southern| 3|1| 2

@DH

That's funny I was just working on the Short-Faced Bear, however when brought into game it went crazy with pink splines everywhere. Sadly I don't think that model will be usable even if I fix the pinkness.

So yeah the Mammoth range is basically the whole Northern Hemisphere.

The Dire Wolf on the other hand is not the same as the Grey Wolf and is actually limited to North and South America.

Its not surprising that Africa has the least on the list since most of their Megafauna still is around. Unlike say the rest of the globe (especially North America and Australia) that lost most of theirs. I think Africa has more than enough species to balance out.

So you list should look more like ...

-180 to -60 (Americas)
