Subdued Animals in C2C discussions

Are ALL the new animals "food" resources or some of them just hide or just kill? ie Iguana.

I am still working my way through all the new animals getting their ecology right, adding them to the python so they can be killed for food and hammers; turned into resources; or subdued. Then adding the buildings for the subdued animals to build.

If you are not getting any food or hammers from a kill then I probably haven't updated the SVN with the latest python code. Same if you are getting food but no subdued version even though the pedia says such exists.

In my version the Iguana is only giving food and hammers. I have not yet got the subdued version done but it will be similar to the Komodo Dragon. similarly for the Gharial which will be like the river croc. It takes about 2 hrs each animal and so I do other stuff so I don't get careless.:p

@Hydro thanks for all the buttons.

@Dancing Hoskuld

Here are some spawn changes I would make.

Musk Ox = Tundra, Permafrost (no forest)
Bongo = Jungle / Muddy, Lush (they are not savanna animals they are jungle animals)
Tapir = Jungle (they are rainforest animals)

Humpback = Whale, Shrimp (its like krill)
Reef Shark = Coral
Eagle Ray = Coral
Sea Turtle = Coral

Beluga = Ice (if possible)
Narwhal = Ice (if possible)

Hawk = Desert, Scrub, Rocky
Rhea = Savanna / Scrub, Plains
Ostrich = Savanna / Plains

Then Subdued version of some animals would need extra promotions so they won't die instantly in ice/permafrost when subdued and they do now. Or just let player to get healer units with recon...

Done. Coral damages units so that those starting there will start damaged.

I already give promotions for terrain damage. Or are you saying I need to make some more?

@All, so which animals should be able to build the "Master Hunter" building?

This is hard. I would say ones with higher strength like 3 or 4+ But then you need to be able to build it early one if you want to be able to build a Trackers. And you obviously don't want to make EVERY animal give it. I am stumped on this. Sorry. :blush:

Hmm. Do they heal on their own? Sounds like they need some promotion to be immune to coral damage.

I do think most animals should NOT be taking any damage from reefs/coral. I've always found that a bit silly that a croc would be harmed from one. And now, with greater animal proliferation, some of which are even spawning from coral, its important enough to do something about it.

As for the Master Hunter Building... we could rate it by massive strength, AND by massive food, thus any creature that gives an unusual amount of food for its strength could also qualify. Just about any herd building animal is a frustration whether to choose the herd vs the master hunter and as a result probably should be able to build the master hunter building. All IMHO...

I am going to work on those promotions today. I intend all sea creatures will be immune to damage from ice, coral and reefs. All land subdued animals will get the promotions to protect them from ice and permafrost. These promotions won't be available in other ways.

What about having a Scout build the Master Hunter. A "Free Promo" given after a hard battle could make the Scout able to build the Master Hunter. For instance Hunter II. That way Trackers can build it too, once they are buildable and have gained enough XP to take said promo. Building of course "kills" the builder as he stays in the city as a trainer.

Cheers

Perhaps "Arctic Combat 0" and "Desert Combat 0" should be tweaked for wild/subdued animals only.
