Subdued Animals in C2C discussions

In my current game i havent seen any animals at all. Right below my is alot of tundra and i am on a pretty small landmass of thats the problem

Me too I don't have any animals (svn version 3795) new game huge Pf2 I have discovered a big part of the map with 3 wanderers and 2 scout and don't see any !!!

Also i am playing on a gigantic map if that makes i difference any idea why i havent seen an animale yet

I didn't have what seemed like nearly enough animals during my last few test starts. But I'd like to ask you guys... if you haven't seen ANY animals... do you by chance have the No Barbarians option on somehow? I suppose it could be an outright bug otherwise. I believe the spawn mechanism has been one of those areas they're working on multi-threading so this may be one for the bug reports.

I always play with Barbs on, and in my last games i had plenty of animals except for the last one until I set USE_MULTIPLE_THREADS_SPAWNING to 0

Should repost that in the bugs thread then. That's certainly going to be something they'll want to know.

Have barbs on didnt change anything in the xml either maybe its the scaling with larger maps. Ill check im world builder to see if there are any animals at all

There was a bug that is now fixed in the SVN that prevented animals from spawning.

It's been mentioned elsewhere that animals are 'unspawning'. I've witnessed this too. Does anyone know why or how this could be taking place?

I'd say don't bother without a savegame showing the behavior.
No theories on that then huh? Alright. I'll research it further at some point then. Am I correct that the spawning mechanism is still processed in the dll and guided by xml definitions or is there any python involved there?

It is DLL, but it can only spawn, not despawn units.

hmm... so something in the dll (or perhaps python?) is despawning them somewhere under certain conditions then. I'll take a look when I can.

still not getting that many animale units but ive seen a feew come out here or there will see wht happens. also when ever my units on automate hunt go into permafrost terrain they sudenly become stuck and i have to move them out manually or else they die. Also it would be cool if a unit stays long enough in a damaging terrain they can become immune to it

Ok that's just silly.

If I stand in the desert long enough I will become immune!! :w00t:

Um, no. You will die. :ack:

Its like a lobster thinking he will become immune to boiling water. Sure it might not notice if you slowly raise the temperate but either way you have a cooked lobster.

But over the hundreds of years the unit is alive through the generations his descendents will start to build up a defense agains the cold or heat and will learn how to oive with it

I don't think you can apply the time scale to units. In a city I could understand but for units I don't think so. Plus what would be the point in inventing XP into terrain promotions if you can just get immunity anyways? Thus it also unbalances the game if you did that.
