That galley is heading to unload the settler & warrior to that iron hill.

We may have to worry about the Byzantines, they might be tempted to attack our Iron city. Perhaps start building up Barracks and veteran soldiers?

Must kill Dutch...Must kill Dutch...Must kill Dutch...Must kill Dutch...

How in the heck did the Dutch pick off the Lighthouse before us?! Their capital, although massive (nice graphics :D), doesn't seem like a great producer. Could they have picked up an SGL? They were pretty behind in tech though. Construction maybe?

Fine, the Dutch have just made our list of first targets. :hammer:

Nice job fending off the southern barb and also landing that iron city in the north. It actually paid off. :cooool:

I'm actually thinking we should settle a couple more cities in the north now to solidify our borders with the Byzantines. Our new iron city, Manp'O, is going to be hard to defend. Is it even on the coast? If not, I think we should slide a coastal city NE of Inch'on and build a harbor there. That could then connect our nothern cities with those in the south, without the need to road the jungle. And of build some walls, and get some troops up there. Preferably vets.

Maybe also build a city in the east, NE of Jeju. On the peninsula the northern spot pulls in hills and bonus grass and grabs some of the few remaining decent land on our big island (apart from the bg spots to our south). Heck build on both peninsula points and we have a true Panama canal with the lake (probably fresh water) in between.

And lets think about our Forbidden Palace location. That's going to be a tough call in this game, given the layout and the nearby jungles.

Nice set of turns Shoguntaka. I don't know if I would have switched from Monarchy as it probably could have been used to sweep up the other two techs, but not a bad move nevertheless. We were only 1 turn into researching Monarchy, so no big deal.

Oh. One other thing. If we are thinking of attacking the Dutch anytime soon, remember they get the Swiss Mercenary at Feudalism. 4 defense. We have nothing that can withstand that at this time. At least we need to determine where they are getting their iron from (only iron island or elsewhere?)

I think attacking the Dutch is a bit of a ways off still...

Dutch.

Damn their eyes.

Well, as I see it, get that iron on the big island (it needs a name. How about 'Ferrous'?) Rush a harbour, which will connect us to the mainland because there is a coastal path the whole way there. Build a shed load of swordsmen and galleys and go get that lighthouse. Hmmm, not particularly plausible really. Those Swiss mercenaries will be a tough bunch to beat. Chivalry could be the key...

In that case, we could build an invasion fleet and take their northern iron island, deprive them of that lovely resource and then slaughter them by their droves in Amsterdam.

I WANT THAT LIGHTHOUSE!!!!

Remember that the Dutch does not have the Swiss Mercenaries yet. They'll need the Feudalism to get it, and they don't have it...And they're behind in Tech as well...

We can capture that Iron Island of theirs, and they'll need the iron to produce the pikemen, so I think we'll be ok if we attack them now. But don't forget the Byzantines, they might sneak-attack us.

I say we go for the Knight's Templar, so we can have five attack units to go after those Swiss Mercenaries, or, we take out the Dutch before they can make them.

Yes but the KT takes time to produce a large attack force. It could also be possible that they have additional iron sources on their mainland. We also need to be cautious of the Byzantines.

I think attacking the Dutch is going to have to wait for a bit. Once they have Swiss Mercs, they will be practically untouchable for quite some time. Even knights are going to have a tough go against them. We'll get that lighthouse, but it may not be for a while.

Now the Byzantines, on the other hand, could be prime target #1. If we are going for domination, then they have to to first. Heck, some of their land may even prove productive, at least with a well placed FP. And once we have their lands, well, the Dutch are just a hop across the pond.

1. Um, didn't know it's my turn, sorry.
2. I need a skip, I have something on Saturday that I have been planning for years, and I need to prepare. After that, I will be free to play a lot more :).

Did no-one want to trade for currency?

If those vikings take our iron, we'll be in trouble...

The Vikings are settling on the south end of the island. The iron is on the north.

The Vikings are settling in the South? On the desert? Hmmm, seems to me that there may well be a hidden resource down there in that case.

They are settling in the plains/forest.

Dang... My pointy stick has been taken away and now I'm a mere worker. At least I have a proper name for my home. :D

We still have the iron up near the Byzantines too, right? No problems!

And the wonders are falling... Looking at the save... Oooh Great Library in 3 though. Nice. No one else is even researching it.

I'm confused. Sariwon is on the iron island, but on the side opposite from the iron. And it was placed so that it could never pull in the wheat. Was there a reason (barbs maybe)?

And I see we have our first rax. Oh yeah.

As for Balastulin's question, looking at the save, we can take Construction and Liz's gold (211) for Currency which would put us in the Middle Ages (and maybe Feudalism?) Sounds like a plan to me. No one else has anything. We are really doing great in tech research. But that's up to everyone. Obviously we are holding off on trading Lit at this time but once we have the Great Library, all deals are on.
