SuBI1 - Masters of the high seas

The newly conquered lands...
SuBI1_840AD_NewLands.jpg

Just a quick thought or two.

The Dutch trade deal will end in three turns again. We may not need to deal again. Especially if war is near.

We will probably want a city in the jungles south of Inch'on. We've cleared some jungle to reveal bonus grass. Maybe we can position it to grab a couple of bg and maybe the hill.

Keep watching for trading opportunities. We can trade luxes and resources for gpt only. We may want to think about turning off research after we get Navigation to stockpile gold so we can buy techs and trade them. We should be able to trade techs with straight gold.

Wow. Where did everyone go? Just in case... Skoguntaka, you're up!

Nothing exciting this time, except that we got Copernicus' Wonder! All of my ten turns are mainly devoted to prepare the invasion of the Netherland for the next player.

[0]
Switched all temples to libraries (we're scientific, not religious).
Switched Pusan to Sistine Chaple for pre-building for Magellen
Switched Seoul to Copernicus (it's due in 4 turns)
I rushed a settler at Go Horse Go city to fill the good spot north of Taejon.

[Ibt]
Wonsan: caravel -> caravel
Panama: aqueduct -> marketplace
Kaesong: harbor -> aqueduct
Go Horsie Go: settler -> courthouse

[1]
Sold the Astronomy to the Vikings for their wines (why not?)

[Ibt]
Paegon: aqueduct -> harbor

[2]
Sailing and reorganizing ground/sea units

[Ibt]
We build Copernicus' Observatory at Seoul! ]
Taejon: courthouse -> pikeman

[3]
Settled a new city Ch'ongfu, which is north of Taejon and has good corruption %. I set its production to granary to speed up its growth.

[Ibt]
lost deal with the Dutch, they're getting greedy. Republicans...
P'yongyang: caravel -> caravel
SpikeIt's Home: aqueduct -> marketplace

[4]
Moving along

[Ibt]
We learned Navigation, Pusan is now building the Magellan's Voyage.
Seoul: MDI -> Knight (Seoul can produce knight every
3 turns!)
Taejon: Pikeman -> pikeman

[5]
We still have the monopoly on Navigation, I haven't traded. We still dont' know banking, but we'll soon learn gunpowder in few turns.

[Ibt]
Wonsan: caravel again
Ulsas: aqueduct -> marketplace
The Dutch completed the Sun Tzu's Academy :rolleyes:

[6]
rushed a library @ Caesarae

[Ibt]
Caesarae: library -> courthouse
Jeju: harbor -> caravel
Taejon: pikeman -> Knight (it can produce knight every 5 turns)

[7]
Preparing the invasion...

[Ibt]
Seoul: knight -> knight (gotta love it)

[8]
Still preparing....

[Ibt]
We learned Gunpowder, it's so cheap (4 turns to research it).
We still don't know banking yet. The English and Dutch still has it, but lack our navigation.

[9]
rush the library at Constantinoples, soon we will cover all the area at our northermost area.

[Ibt]
Constantinoples: library -> courthouse
Wonsan: caravel -> university
Paejon: harbor -> marketplaces

[10]
It's up to the next player....

Conclusion:
We have the navigation, but still lack the banking. I have a feeling that both Dutch and English will soon learn it. I think it's now a good time to trade it for banking. The reason I build knights is that they will stay behind on the continent, guarding any dutch invasino on our continent. All the trebuchets, MDI, and pikemen will go to invade the Dutch. But I promise you that the dutch galleys will drop off some offensive units to capture out unguarded town, thus the knights will take care of them due to their superior speed. The next player should be able to take a number of the dutch cities.

Let's Invade the Netherland!

Nice set of turns. Good job rearranging some of those northern city builds. I left them a bit mixed up (temples, etc). Great job taking Copernicus! Nice. If the AI is still building wonders, we may want to hold off a bit before trading Navigation, unless we want to potentially give up Magellans. I don't know. Its a judgement call.

We should attack Maastricht first to hopefully cut off Dutch iron. That would be nice. But boy, the Dutch having Sun Tzu? That's going to be rought. This is going to be one bloody battle.

One last thing though. I believe you uploaded the wrong save. I haven't loaded it, but its named 950BC.sav! It looks like our old save from a ways back. :crazyeye:

Once the right save is there, Gogf is up!

I agree, we should capture Maastrich first. We should flop all the units right next to the city, and used all of the trebuchet to bring the swiss mercenaries to redline, capture it with ease.

Then we should head to their capital, Amsterdam.

I looked at the culture ratio, the Dutch is equally same as ours.
However, the Dutch are agriculture, meaning all of their citires
are high in population and will have higher tedency to flip on us.

So, what I'm suggesting, we should capture their capital and keep it, but cash-rush settlers in it to reduce its population to 1. We will raze the rest of the large dutch cities on that continent and replace them by the new settlers being rushed at Amsterdam. It'll be a difficult battle.

Just in case it was missed. Gogf, you're up! If we don't hear from Gogf by tomorrow, I say we skip him. And if -Oblivion- doesn't check in soon, I say we put him on permanent skip until he signs back in. Hopefully SuperBeaverInc. can get his copy of Civ working as this SG has become rather lean.

I pm'd Gogf. Hopefully he can play his turns... Otherwise I think Balastulin is up again. SuperBeaverInc is still out of action and -Oblivion- is MIA. Let's give this another day.

Wow. I've been away a few days and this game has gone nowhere, which is too bad. It's been looking interesting. SuperBeaver - when are you going to be set to play again? Well, let's skip Gogf, SuperBeaver, and Oblivion. Balastulin? Are you still around (echo's heard off the forum walls)?

Sure thing duderino. I'm here and will take it on. I'll try and play during my lunch hour (5 minutes away.) This could be interesting as I had two and a half bottles of red wine at a corporate AFL match yesterday :crazyeye: so don't feel too intelligent at the moment :confused: (though it was good quality wine so I have no headache thank the lord :goodjob: )

Hi guys.

Not an inspired write-up but then again nothing much really happened.

960

Jeju Caravel> marketplace

Incheon wealth > university

970

Suwon courth>Aque
Chinje CH> Aque
Pyongyang Caravel>Harbour (DOH!)

980

Tokchon bit the dust. And the Dutch are, errr, building Magellan's...

990

Worker movement.

1000

Zzzzzzzzz

1010

Moving Caravels to the northern lands. The Dutch can't quite see the invasion fleet we have planned.

Trade furs for iron with Ragnar.

1020

Seoul Knight> Knight
Ulsan Marketplace>library

Chemistry due in one so switch slider for a nice +96

1030

Chemistry comes in back up to 60/40. Decide to go for Physics as Magnetism provides upgrade for ships.

Try to sell it around but they've already got it and most of them have banking too...

1040

Nothing much. Armada getting ready

1050

Pyongyang Harbour>University
Seoul Knight>knight
Taejon Knight>knight
Dyrrachium Lib>pikeman

Vikings Dutch and Spanish are building Magellan's

Now that we have a full map of the world, we can see that the Dutch have another iron ready. In addition, they have a nice site of Saltpeter. To be honest, they are going to be a tough nut to crack. I've been building the Armada, but I don't think our forces are strong enough yet.

Why don't we have Saltpeter on our rather large island!

Maybe wait a little bit?..

I hope that wine has worn off for you. Although it may take a lot of wine to heal the wounds of a Dutch battle. I agree they are looking tough. I'm fighing off a bout of the flu myself courtesy of my son's first week of day care so I'm sure my playing abilities may be slightly hazed over as well. So with that in mind, I have it. But I probably won't be able to finish up for a few days.

Once I'm done, we'll see who we are fighting... ;)
