Succession Game for Newbies

I'll look for better starts for France I guess :) then we can chose what VC we want and what start & civ we want. :)

I Started a French Game for about 30 turns and here is the core
----->

Here is the Northern Peninsula (Specialist Farm)

--------->

And Here is the Enemy Land(s) (The Babylonians and inca)
------------->...... Woops ill take it later ;)

There is a great Ottoman start :)

You're pretty set on the Ottomans, aren't you? :)

Ok, well, that is a decent start, but not great. I prefer a little less mountains if we are going to need so many cities. Let's roll a few more French, Russian, and Ottoman starts, post the pics, and then choose. Sound good?

In my French game I think we should tightly pack cities in the tundra (up North) and use them as specialist farms even tho they arnt going go be that Big. (see my pictures)

I have Conquests v1.0 on this computer, would a map made with that work for v1.22?

lurker's comment: I think you're going to have ongoing compatibility issues while playing this game. If a person has v1.0 games in progress and then upgrades to v1.22, they can no longer play the older games at all.

You might want to run a test of this (with any small game you won't actually be playing here) before any game play begins and upgrade to v1.22 before going any further.

Fixed!! Tad you need to have these around your image address to make it show up ;) make both IMG are all capitals!

I can agree to those, but I believe culturallly linked is a good thing, it helps in negotiations supposedly. Anyone else have any theories on that?

There are problems with the Culture link i.e you will get almost always have Aztec,Inca,Maya :)

kk ill roll again where I wont move units Sry GUYS :(

I rolled 2 Starts that I think would be good, I didnt move anything this time :D

How about we choose our opponents and then we don't have those guys, I am sick of them too. I think you got the meaning of culturally linked mixed up, because it should mean we get England, Portugal, Germany, Spain as cultural bedfellows if we play as France. Hy, you are welcome to join, everyons say "Hy";) I gotta run now, but I will catch you tomorrow with more posts. Keep those starts going, we can vote tomorrow, if things go right, we can launch this weekend, maybe friday.

BTW Thanks Kumquat for the info about screenshots ;) thanks :D

Good work on the starts, guys. :)

I like Kumquat's Ottoman start, but again, there are a lot of mountains that could make it pretty tough. Tad, your first French screenshot (the non-moved ones ;) ) is pretty good also, although only one cow would leave us short of the desired +5fpt unless the fog would pop something more out. The second one is a little food-starved...

I rolled a few starts for the Ottomans, French, and Russians. For each civ, I rolled at least 1 start each with 60% water and 70% water. The rest of the map stats are as follows:
-Large
-Continents
-Roaming barbs
-Normal
-Temperate
-4 Billion

Here are the screenshots for the French and Ottoman starts:
--> Hold your cursor over the thumbnail and it will give the file name. I put 60% water if it was, uhh, 60% water and 70% if not. Pretty straightforward, no? ;)

The first Ottoman 60% water start is not food-ideal with the two wines (probably not +5fpt) but its pretty good so I included it.

A civ in one's culture group will give a -1 (minus is good) attitude point to the other civs in the group. Note, attitude (i.e. furious to gracious) is different than reputation and does not help in trading. In other words, if we were France and England was in the game with us, Elizabeth would have a slightly nicer attitude toward us to begin with. It would NOT, however, give us better trading deals. That has to do with our trading reputation, which is far different animal.

I tend to have random opponents to keep my civ experience slightly more suspenseful :shifty:, but we can preselect the AI civs, that's fine. I also get tired of fighting the same culture group civs. :gripe:

Yeah, like I posted earlier (probably lost in my lengthy posts :) ) this would definitely cause compatibility issues. We should all be playing in v1.22.
