Succession LK 17 - Egypt, anyone plays

Tiny question: Where is the army?

Hiding in thebes -
We got it to early.

However, the sooner we can build Heroic Epic ;)

1150 BC: Work on the Pyramids is halted by riots in Thebes!

1125: Egyptians can now write. The pharoah orders more spending on the people's happiness so that work on his great project may resume!

1100: Our elite warrior dispersed mountain barbs and their gold boosts our treasury.

1099-976: Work on the Pyramids continues...

975: The Age of Pyramid building end and Egypt's Golden Age begins.:egypt:

950: An Iroquois scout approaches Elephantine. He is treated well and given gold. in return he teaches the Pharoah how to ride a horse. Pi-Ramesses and Alexandria are founded. This brings ivory into the Pharoah's cities allowing him to cut back on luxury spending.

925: Our elite warriors finds evidence of a new civilization to the northwest.

900: Our elite warrior meets the Russians. They brag about something they call 'math' and will teach it to us for large amounts of gold. We decline. After all, we built the Pyramids without math.

899-851: The Pharoah's people continue writing...

850: The people have written so much that a great body of literature has accumulated. The Pharoah orders a Great Library built in Thebes to store this priceless treasure. So let it be written, so let it be done!

825: The Iroquois are building the Oracle!

824-731: The Golden Age continues...

730: The road to Alexandria is complete and Giza is built.

710: Our elite warrior brings more barbarian gold to the Pharoah's treasury.

690: Soon the Pharoah will have a good supply of horses. He looks forward to the day when iron and silk is brought into Thebes as well.:egypt:

Sorry for taking so long!

We have the Pyramids. The Great Library and Colossus are underway. The Iroquois are working on the Oracle.

We have lots of ivory. A settler is on the way south to bring silk within our borders. There are gems in the far off north. Horses should be online next turn. We need a road to the iron.

We don't have a barracks yet and our new cities are not garrisoned. i think it's agood idea to continue building cities to lock up the south of Thebes. We should also get some cities to the north...

Good job! Ok, well it's 8:30 PM here. No idea where it is by you dudes so. I think tomorrow I'll try it unless you guys have time go ahead and do it yourself. Tomorrow though I'm up! Wuahaha! Long live Egypt!:egypt:

Very Confusing post

It did NOT look like Kevin planned to go tonight.

I got it.

I didn't plan. Too buys watching half "Tomorrow Never Dies". So i got a little Militaristic. Next time I'll plan. Say tomorrow. You do something today I'll check your report and tomorrow someone or me can something.:egypt:

Sounds like we were lucky getting Byblos settled. Every city I founded was made by unescorted settlers. The only barbs I saw were in the northwest. I never dreamed they'd be so close to our cities!

Kev:
1) You had only registered that day.
2) Your post feature a large number of exclimation marks
and 3) You've made 2 mistakes:
a) mix up with attachments (not all your fault)
b)playing without saying you will

In my opiion that makes you a Newbie. And as tehy say "it takes one to know one" ;) We all go through it :o :crazyeye:

Anyway coursework is all coming at once so atleast until Tuesday you needn't worry about me turning this into a certain losing situation ;) (You probably think I'm joking! )

1) I've been playing Civ2 a while and Civ3 4 weeks or so. And just got on this forum.
2)I like exclamation marks!
3)ilkendter didn't mind. I'm suprised you do! Bla! Oh well. We were all once noobs. I'll get excpierence and get better.

Ok me again please. This time I'll do better i swear. Build Spearmen and Swordsmen when available. Righto!

Pre turn:
What is going on? We have a city with gems that is not hooked to our road network yet we have two workers improving spots that will never be within any city's radius. We also have three cities not hooked to our road network and no workers working on this. We have a worker mining a plain that will limit Asyut to size 2 in a few turns. We are building expensive, non-upgradeable swordsman when we have many cities without a single defender. We have 13 cities, 8 military units and two settlers. We really need to get focused and get our empire in order. WE NEED SOME DEFENSE. WE NEED WORKERS FOCUSED ON PRIORITIES.

An entertainer in Pi-Ramesse is changed to a scientist and our science rate is dropped to 0% without affecting our 12 turns until Monarchy is discovered while our income is increased by 4 gpt.

Thebes citizens reassigned to allow growth. Production changed from swordsman to spearman in one turn.
Elephanitine production changed from aqueduct ot spearman. We need more defense and the gems hooked up before we need growth here.
Avaris production changed from warrior (no barracks) to temple.
Giza production changed from barracks in 32 turns to worker in 2 turns.

Worker outside Asyut is told to stop working on the mine. The two workes building useless roads aren't stopped as they will complete within the next couple turns and therefore won't gain by stopping at this point.

(1) 170AD
Production focused on spearman and workers.
Worker improvements focused on road network for unconnected cities and irrigation for cities with little or no growth.

(2) 190AD
Lisht founded on island off Memphis.
Munith founded.

(3) 210AD
England demands our territory map and 54 gold. Even though we have no military I risk denying her demand due to our distance from England's territory. It pays off, Liz doesn't declare war and is still polite.

(4) 230AD

(5) 250AD

(6) 260AD
Our warrior in Byblos defends against a barb horseman.
We discover Monarchy. We begin research of Theology so we can build Sistine Chapel. Science rate is increased to 50%, discovery is 23 turns away at a slight loss.
As we are a religious civ I go for the change to Monarchy and we actually are able to choose Monarchy as our new government on this turn. A few of our cities fall into civil disorder this turn.

(7) 270AD
Iroquois are building Hanging Gardens
All cities now back in order and we are 20 turns away from Theology with income of 1 gpt. Thebes production changed to Hanging Gardens, 24 turns away. THIS IS A PLACEHOLDER FOR SISTINE'S CHAPEL, watch this it will be close.

(8) 280AD
Russia demands tm and 59 gold. We have enough military that I feel confident in turning her down. She doesn't declare war but she does become cautious. A 25 gold gift brings her back to polite.

(9) 290AD
The Babylonians are building the Hanging Gardens.
Babylon builds the Great Lighthouse.
All of our cities finally have at least one defender!
Worker is purchased from Germany for 27 gold.

(10) 300AD
Temples rushed in Munith, Abydos and Byblos

(11) 310AD
The English and Greeks are building the Hanging Gardens.

(12) 320AD

(13) 330AD
The Germans are building the Hanging Gardens.

(14) 340AD
Two workers purchased from Germany for 45 gold.
We discover a new source of iron outside Asyut.

(15) 350AD
Munith's spearman defends against a barb horseman.
Russia is building the Hanging Gardens

(16) 360AD

(17) 370AD

(18) 380AD
Republic is obtained from the Great Library.
We choose to go to this new Repulican government.

(19) 390AD
Iroquois want to trade tm, I don't.
Both Russia and Iroquois were trying to move escorted settlers towards Hieracompolis but were forced to remove them from our territory at threat of war.
The Republic sold to Greece for communication with Chinese, wm and 60 gold.
Math sold to Chinese for wm and 40 gold. They are way behind in tech but don't have much cash.
Germany gives us wm for comm with China
Iroquois give wm and 5 gold for comm with China
Established embassy with China at cost of 8 gold.

China appears to be a good area but they are way behind due to tech. They have 7 incense, one horse and no iron. I am guessing that they will soon be someone's target. Only Greece and England can easily reach them before Magnetism.

(20) 400AD
More movement of workers.

Theology is 5 turns away. Change Thebes production from Hanging Gardens to Sistine when Theology is complete. Most of the other civs are building Hanging Gardens and there could be a big cascade to Sistine.

We are in better condition than when I took over but there is still much work to be done. All of our cities are now defended. Almost all of our cities are now on the road network. There are four workers working on bringing the road to the gem city of El-Amarna. They then should work on getting us connected to our neighbors so we can trade some of our excess luxuries. The rest of our workers have been concentrating on improving the cities surrounding our capital. Many of these cities are currently producing aqueducts and will be expanding soon. We still need some additional military units. We still have the empty army in Thebes.

There is a settler in Munith waiting for the spearman outside Pi-Ramesses to escort him south. There is a barb camp down there so don't send the settler undefended. There is another settler being produced in Byblos.

The maps obtained last turn showed there are some lands just off our western shores. A galley is 4 turns from completion in Avaris that will allow further exploration and/or settlement of these lands.

We should soon decide on a plan for building the forbidden palace. The southern area of Russia might be a good area for it. But we aren't even close to being ready for a war with them.

Remember we have the Great Library. Don't research Education.

Good luck to the next leader. We need to focus on infrastructure, expansion and military buildup.
