I got a bit distressed with my latest EU III Magna Mundi game, so I feel like little RPG fun.
Can someone advise a good title to check out?

To narrow down the genre a bit, I have enjoyed:
Elder Scrolls III and IV
Mount&Blade
Diablo II
The Witcher

Are there any more good games else along these lines around? Preferably from this millennium :D

Never Winter Nights might please you, I don't know. It's quite complicated but fun.

I like games more like Fallout. Freeroaming and dialouge/puzzle and less action based but that doens't seem to be your cup of tea.
Still if you'd like to try it try Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusaider.

Diablo 3 is coming out to, looks good.

Also pretty much anything that these two firms have done:

Gothic II

Whatever you do, don't get Gothic III, ugh....

I wouldn't be surprised if it came out as far as the end of 2011 or the beginning of 2012. Actually, I wouldn't be able to tell you if we're going to get Diablo III or frickin' Civilization V first. Blizzard are really annoying with their habit to just post stuff about an upcoming game like 5 years before the damn beta. Their favorite statement ever is "It's too early to estimate [ANY BLIZ GAME HERE]'s release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing [ANY BLIZ GAME HERE] as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players."

Yes but they do a good job.

Although I don't actually own or play any Blizzard games, none of them interest me :p (I don't think i will be playing Diablo anytime soon either, I havn't even gotton a quarter of the way through Titan Quest (Diablo clone, but a good one)).

I suggest you get Fllout 3, play that then once you realise you've played out your main splurge (however lnog that takes), get Fallout 1 and 2 off off http://www.gog.com/en/frontpage/

Spore: Galatic Adventures looks like it's daring to be an RPG, in that your space captain avatar levels up and is customizable. I'm not crossing my fingers that it'll be 'good' though.

NWN2 and expansions. Don't bother with NWN unless you plan to play online on PWs. NWN's single player campaign is horrible

I'll second that having played NWN and sequel. My only gripe with the NWN2 original campaign is that it's a bit generic, but the NWN2 sequel (MOTB) has a strong story. NWN2 has some great RPG mods for it though, including a series of Conan stories.

Titan Quest is good, it's simialr gameplay but with a couple of nice things;

The equipment dropped by enemeis is what you see on them (excluding potions and coins) and it's in Mythological Greece. I got the godl edition on sale off Steam for $9.99.

I havn't finished it because I lost interest in the diablo style gameplay, but I intend to get back to it someday.

I know and it's really a shame. Perhaps the sequel will be better.

Regarding Diablo clones, Sacred 1 and 2 and especially Divine Divinity (if you don't mind the older graphics) are worth mentioning. DD can be considered a copycat but it's a very good game nevertheless.

I checked out Sacred reviews, but the mix-match of industrial and Tolkienish settings did not excite me too much... That was when I resorted to making this thread.:)

I'm going to ignore this instruction by about a month, and suggest the greatest RPG ever:

Planescape: Torment

Definetly stay away from Gothic 3, it's just atrocious. The first two games in the series however are excellent.
I'd personally stay away from Sacred, too. The game never really caught my interest in the same way Diablo did, and the Skill system is stupid imo.

Mass effect
Fallout 3
