Suggested Feature: Ignore Thread

Me too, and i haven't figured out why it no longer works. It's on my todo list for the next version of the script.

As we all know there's the Ignore List where we can put posters you have no wish to read again...But as of lately I've been wishing more and more that there was a feature 'Ignore Thread' (or similar)

At the moment OT looks a bit like this:
  • Obama blablabla
  • some thread
  • Palin nanananan
  • some other thread
  • McCain did thisandthat
  • etc
:cringe:

Every now and then some wave crashes over OT filling it with threads about the same issue (at the moment it's the Election, obviously). Rather than to deprive those that cherish those threads of them, a feature would be nice, so you'd have to only look once at a thread and then trash it (being the weak person that I am I usually end up in these threads despite better knowledge...)

Note: I have no idea if such a feature/plugin exists in vbulletin but if it does I herewith petition for its use :)

I'd like to express my support for this tool as a standard feature.

I'd also like to propose some sort of moderation that would prevent the starting of inane threads and polls in the 1st place (along the lines of "How do you like to start your morning? Vote now!" and the like.

EDIT: I'm sorry to have to correct Goethe, but patriotism is a part of history. (Der Patriotismus gehört zur Geschichte.)

Ah! So this is a form of protest thread?

We've been discussing this in staff. View is that forums should be about discussions, and the discussions should require reasonable exchange of information. The basica expectation is that if people are going to post questions which ask for opinions or very basic facts (yes / no etc), then generally we'd expect people to contribute to the discussion by providing reasoning or detail to support their response.

here is an example of where a potential 'yes / no' thread generated some good discussion, and here is a thread which I thought was going to be rather bland / lacking in discussion actually got some very thorough responses.

Actually, yes. (I get the impression that certain members are trying to set some sort of record in threadstarting, resulting in some quite shortlived/inane threads. Perhaps to induce further CFC space expansion?) Though I realize there's plenty of people having an opinion on Jay Leno, I personally do not.

I'm glad to hear it. (There's plenty of chatrooms and/or - boxes to indulge in "inforrmation exchange" on the web if people feel the need to do so.)

Tried again (this is other computer but i assume it works similarly); now I realized that it hides threads when i reload that particular forum, unlike the old one which did hide threads immediately without page refresh. That fooled me .. though i would prefer immediate hiding.

It is fixed now. You might need to refresh your cache before installing. Immediate removal works for threads and users.
