Suggestions and Requests

Southern Italy, but Italy in general too, is horrible. Apulia has completely disappeared and Neaples is more useless than before. I really dislike this choice.

Do you build the Three Gorges Dam wonder in your games? I think its effect is worthless because by the time you discover plactics, all cities are usually powered by coal plants. Even after its construction, you still have 2 unhealth from coal plant, already build in the city. And by itself it's a damm expensive wonder. Is it possible to change it's effect to "provides power to all cities in the same continent AND replaces all coal plants to hydro power"? So by this you can get rid of those 2 unhealth from coal plants.

I think Balkan and Levantine enlargements are both badly needed. Eastern Europe particularly looks tiny next to Western Europe right now... but I agree too that Italy looks very weird.

On the other hand, Apulia's tip (the "heel") is really a geographically small and historically not that outstanding region, and... bad as the map might look, we would all get used to it after little time. Unfortunately the map can't be as specific and accurate as we would like, since we're constrained to a limited amount of tiles.

If I may provide a another addition to the map change, I would also extend the Balkans one tile East at the expense of the Black sea.

It's also a Brazilian UHV wonder.

You are wrong, electricity itself provides 2 unhealth no matter the source, the Dam does in fact do away with Coal power sickness.

Napolis is in fact in better position, since it has Sicily's wine in radius.

I have already expanded Balkans 1 tile east, it is included.

Too few sea tiles is not very important, they're only 2/0/2 really, so you're losing max 6 commerce plus multipliers, it's not that awful.

2 foods per sea tile are vital for Florence-Marseille-Barcellona also because of their lack of land tiles.

I experimented moving central Italy, Sardinia and Corsica one tile west. Then there was enough room to expand the balkans 1 tile west. By moving Greece and cyprus one west then there is enough room to move/expand Anatolia and Levant.

So the final result was more Balkans, Anatolia and Levant. If crowiding isn't a problem, it is possible to add Tirana, Salonica, Sofia, Dobrucha, Smyrna, both landlocked Konya and Ankara, ochrid lake and Tuz lake.

I also added aggean islands.

For all our disagreements, I'm actually really digging your changes including the Italy ones.
I'd just remove 1 or 2 islands in the Aegean because I don't want Greece to beat me to Wonders ALL the time.

Another small request:

Could you use this version of the CityLSystem.xml? This file can't be made modular and I need it to make the Russian 2nd UB art to work. (And I don't want to loose compatibility)

For the main mod, it doesn't change anything. It will just be there and do nothing. But it will help a lot with the compatibility of the modcomp.
Yeah, I'll do it with the next content commit.

On the map changes, that new Anatolia looks really appealing, not sure about the Balkans for Italy trade off. Don't want to lose the Marseille/Rome/Barcelona triangle, so I'll have to test it for myself.

Do you mind opening a new thread for this so I can find it easier once I have the time?

Ok I will do it.

Do you mean Hydro Plant/Three Gorges Dam removes the sickness present in the city caused by Coal Plant?

That, and that power creates :yuck: from its very presence.

The full breakdown is:

-Power creates 2 :yuck:, regardless of source.

-Coal Plants, when supplied with coal, generate an additional 2 :yuck:, for a total gain of 4 :yuck:

-Hydro Plants, the Three Gorges Dam, and Nuclear Plants supplied with Uranium provide power without additional :yuck:, resulting in a gain of 2 :yuck: total

-When a city with a Coal Plant gets a Hydro Plant, the benefits of the Three Gorges Dam, or a Nuclear Plant and Uranium, the 2 extra :yuck: generated by the Coal Plant vanishes, as if the Coal Plant were not there (though the :yuck: returns if the Hydro Plant or Nuclear Plant is destroyed, the Nuclear Plant loses access to Uranium, or the city loses access to the benefit of the Three Gorges Dam).

Thanks. Good to know that Coal Plants should be built at the earliest opportunity.

The only clear science boost you can get by civics is the Secularism civic. I find that a bit strange, Islam during the dark ages and Europe later on were both scientific advanced. There are of course examples of the opposite. So maybe some rebalancing?

- Gear Secularism to religious peace. Dont know what fitting bonuses would be.
- Move the Science boost to a Government/Legal civic which is less oppressing. I know that you dont like penalties but a -10% science to Theocracy would be fitting.

I think science and culture should both be tied to an open exchange of ideas. Now its possible to have a closed police state which still gives the same science bonus as modern democracies as long as they run Secularism.

This isn't that unrealistic, the glorious Soviet Union was plenty scientifically advanced thank you very much.
