MONTES CLAROS UNDER SEIGE, BRAZILIAN ATTEMPT AT RELIEF FAILS Montes Claros, Brazil
Yet again for another month the war between the Republic of the Pampas and Brazil continues, though again like last month, Brazil seems to be on its last limb. With the 1st Army hopelessly surrendered and under siege in the small town of Montes Claros, a new army is created in northern Brazil and sent south to try and break through and make an opening for retreat. Unfortunately things do not go so well as the Pampas 1st Legion moves to meet the new 2nd Army directly. As a result, the momentum has all but been lost for the 2nd Army, as the Battle for Montes Claros continues. The 2nd Army, taking the regular 1st Legion on directly, suffers catastrophic casualties, with 5 infantry divisions and 1 mechanized infantry division destroyed during this month, taking down 2 Pampas infantry and a gunship squadron from the 1st Legion.

The besieged army, meanwhile, undergoes casualties of its own. As repeated offensives aimed at breaking out of their encirclement repeatedly fail, many companies and divisions outright surrender, breaking their own laws yet becoming under custody of the Pampas military. 2 infantry divisions have already surrendered as 2 are destroyed along with both artillery batteries.

The Brazilians have been succeeding in two respects. On the sea, the 1st Fleet is unchecked, and so has been heavily cooperating with the 1st Wing and has been able to contest air superiority, knocking down a fighter and a fighter/bomber squadron from the sky, only losing one fighter squadron themselves. Though their ability to strike ground targets are limited (only possessing one squadron of fighter/bombers), the mere existence of the strong Brazilian air force has meant the Pampas do not have air superiority and will still struggle for every inch they take.

USSA BREAKS ETIQUETTE, INVADES CUBA Havana, Occupied Cuba
A surprise move by the USSA government has gotten many of its own citizens greatly upset over the move against fellow communist brethren. Citing the established capitalist elite had overtaken Cuban politics and power, the USSA sought justification for its invasion of its island neighbor, a piece of real estate that has been a part of American dreams since the Spanish-American War. The war gets off to a good start as the 1st Motorized lands without resistance just west of Havana. When most of the army was on the beach, the short march to the capital began, and this is where the real fighting began. The Battle for Havana lasted nearly two weeks as the city was torn apart by street fighting and air strikes. USSA casualties numbered 1 mechanized division and their only artillery battery. Even though Havana has been captured, the communist party of Cuba was able to escape to Holguin, and has begun to revamp the military to fight off the Americans. Already the 1st Motorized was decisively defeated at Camaguey, where the advance has come to a stop, the Americans in desperate need of reinforcements.

AS CHINESE LEADERSHIP STALLS, SOUTHERN ARMY IN TROUBLE Rangoon, Burma
As Chinese leadership continues to stall in regards to the surprised Indian intervention in Burma, the Indians regroup from their failures last month. Even with the production of six fighter squadrons by the Indians, the skies over Burma continue to remain contested, neither side gaining the upper hand, even after the Chinese lose 3 fighter squadrons and the Indians 2. The Indians also tried to regain control of the Andaman Sea, leading to the Second Battle for the Andaman Sea. And again the Chinese achieve an overwhelming victory here, as both remaining Indian destroyers are sunk by Chinese carrier-based aircraft. However, what the Chinese were not expecting was the addition of nuclear submarines to the Indian fleet. In a surprise assault, the submarines were able to slip past the destroyers and sink an entire Chinese carrier with four torpedoes before racing away. Meanwhile on land, the Chinese Southern Army is completely surrounded after losing the Battle of Bhamo, destroying 3 Indian infantry divisions but losing 3 infantry and an armored division in the process. The Chinese are now held up in the city of Mandalay, without access to reinforcements or supplies.

OCEANIA CONTINUES ITS DOMINATION OF THE PACIFIC ISLANDS Port Moreseby, Oceania
Oceania continued its conquest of the Pacific with the intimidation of the Cook Islands earlier this month. With a large fleet sitting menacingly off their coast, the Cook Islands found themselves with no other options but to give in to the Oceanians. The 2 West Pac army group then moved in from Tonga to occupy the islands and claim it for Oceania. Meanwhile closer to home the Oceanians again attempted to force Solomon Islands to join them of their own accord, but the government remained stalwart, believing the Oceanians were bluffing with their threats of invasion. Unfortunately, they were not. After bombing strategic locations, including the government capitol, the 47 Mech division moved in to secure the island chain.

UIS INVADES ERITREA, ETHIOPIA Port Sudan, UIS
The Islamic forces this month continued their march into Africa with the heavy bombing of Eritrea. Having been victim to Ethiopian invasions over the past century, Eritrean forces are well trained and formidable. That is why, even after 5 days of intense bombing from the UIS fleet and air force, the Eritreans were still able to inflict damages on Task Force Balls, destroying 2 infantry divisions before being completely overrun. The UIS then moved to apply the same strategy on Ethiopia. But, being the dominating force in its region for years, the Ethiopians are a bit more of a nuisance than were the Eritreans. Scrambling fighters of its own, the Ethiopians made the UIS fight for the skies, taking out two fighter squadrons before finally conceding it to the UIS. Ethiopian ground forces are also much more stubborn than the Eritreans, holding the UIS at several battles and making progress a lot slower than up north. The Battle for Gonder, for example, was nearly an Ethiopian victory against seemingly insurmountable odds before the UIS called in air support. So far, the UIS has lost a grizzly 4 infantry and 2 armored divisions in their invasion.

BACK FOR ROUND TWO, JAPANESE ATTEMPTS INVASION OF SOUTH KOREA Seoul, South Korea

Not changing much from the first time (actually, if anything the Japanese are weaker), the Japanese emperor has again decided on the invasion of South Korea. Beginning this time with a week-long bombardment of major cities, infrastructure, and military installations, the South Koreas are a bit stunned when the actual Japanese army again lands at Pusan. Here, though, they are met by a heavy defense force, kept here after the first invasion in case Tokyo ever decided to do it again. Only due to sheer size of the air force and naval forces were the Japanese able to push the Koreans back and take Pusan, along with the rest of the southern portion of the peninsula. But, resistance is high, and the Japanese have already taken heavy losses again, with 2 infantry and 1 mechanized infantry division lost on the invasion. While some of the Japanese citizens are happy with the defense of Japanese honor, most know that the Japanese army cannot win this fight, not with so little men. Many claim the Japanese will have to run a huge deficit in order to recruit enough men to end this war.

EUROPEANS ANNEX SERBIA AFTER BRIEF BATTLE Belgrade, EU
EU forces attacked the Serbians from both sides of the country, overrunning small border defenses and taking only light casualties along the way. The Serbs fought back with their own air force and AA, taking out a fighter/bomber squadron, but ultimately being left without air cover and at the mercy of the EU ground forces. The EU possesses some of the most mobile forces in the world, easily maneuvering through the Balkan country, sweeping up the remains of the Serbian defenses, and finally destroying the Serbian resistance at the Battle of Belgrade, which left a quarter of the city in ruins. The Serbs were able to inflict damage, destroying one mechanized infantry division.

NOTES

*Gelion, your two armies were way to far apart to transfer units.

*shadowbound, fighter/bombers cost 5c, not 4c, so I just added 1c to your debt.

*sparrow, your army was encircled and couldn’t get reinforcements so I went into debt spending for you and instead built you an army with what you were planning to send.

*Carriers come with their own air craft. You cannot base air units on carriers.

*Skizzik, you cannot split your armies or navies and have one part do something, and another do something somewhere else. Your armies and navies must remain in tact.

*Shadowbound, remind me what EULA stands for.

*First warning to Warman17 and dldnjstjr. Miss next turn and you will be dropped.

*New Rules on Terrorism will be added next turn.
