Good evening everyone,

here the situation. Immortal Julius Ceasar Huge Map, trying Conquest win since start. Already got 4 Civs down, still got Hannibal and Louis IVX and Peter, all of them with Nukes, cant make them sign the "Non-Nuke Pact".

Two questions:

1) How do i deal with nuclear enemies? They have already used it in another Civ NPC.

2) Are Huge Conquest Win suppose to be long? Seems i will need to me in constant war (obviously) and constantly sabottaging the other Civs wins (they are trying Cultural, Space...)

I'm not an expert in nukes, but I would have strike first with nukes if the AIs have them and are not hesitant to use them. Spread your conventional forces, tech Ecology, build enough nukes, have your workers at hand and strike at their uranium first.

Get them to attack each other.

or

Attack first (hard enough to destroy their nukes)

or

Play nice until you get SDI (i think that's the name).

I don't know, but if you are trying out for conquest, the game should have been over long before nukes ever existed.

Looked at your save and the cities. First, you are running 100% research, but many cities have markets, grocers and banks, what for? Then there is rome, which has a settled GG + a military Academy, but it's building wealth instead of units. Worse is Antium, which has 2 settled GG's + West Point + a Military Academy, but, again, instead of building units, it has about any building there is, including a market, a grocer, a library, a university and is building an observatory, for the 3 cottages, that should not even be there. Then Cumae, another city of which I don't know, what it is, it has 3 cottages + tons of farms. Again, it has every building you can get, if it was a commercial city, it should have had more cottages, it's no GP farm, then why all the farms? Lakahmha, holy City which should be on commerce, but it has lumbermills, mines, again lots of farms and only 4 cottages. Next Mutal, your GP Farm, not running enough specialists, having a bank, an Airport, a Barracks, every production building available (pushing your health down) but what it doesn't have is windmills instead of mines for higher population. Neapolis, crap city of 12 pop with 21 Happiness, but 2 Temples, 2 Monestaries, every wealth building, every research building, 1 cottage. Chichen Itza, production city with IW, 3 cottages, every possible building, building culture, running engineers instead of artists. Ravenna, production City with Moai, having a Library without a single cottage or luxury ressource, having Hermitage + every culture building available, but no factory. Seville, settled GG, building research, having 1 cottage, but again having every research and wealth building available.

This goes on for every city I look at, man, you really got some work to do on basic city specialization and civilization basics. It's no wonder you are surrounded by nukes, Immortal is at least 1 difficulty to high for you, if not two, practice on monarch or emperor, read the guides, and you will never come in a situation like this.

Try taking out the nukes by nuking the cities with nukes and then capturing it with something. You could also get SDI, but that takes a ton of time.

But seriously, as a tactical advice, I hear that tactical nukes do everything ICBMs do, only cheaper and better. So that might be helpful.

Yes, TMIT says that, and he's kinda right, although you'll have to work your strategy around that aswell. You'll need submarines to launch the nukes, and you'll need alot of them. It's also worth knowing that nukes damage the sorrounding tiles aswell, so you don't have to drop the nuke right on the tile. Important if you can't hit the tile itself because you lack one range. "Cheaper" is the "better" in this case: ICMBs cost a significant amount of additional hammers.

Beside that, Rhino is right: you can destroy nukes my nuking the city. Nuke first, then march in, preferably with 2-move-units like tanks, although after a nuke Cavalery can do the job often ...

I didn't check the game, but this just made me laugh.
So funny written

Other important thing is to know what the AI will target with the nukes :p

Actually the AI ICBM and tac nukes targetting codes are diferent ( and awfully diferent, i must add ): ICBMs ONLY target cities and they prefer to attack more valuable ones ( most pop, buildings and wonders ) so your cap will get most of the ICBM hits while the tac nukes look for a more diversified lot of targets in range ( they factor the number of units in the possible target square, the value of the affected tiles in the blast zone and the value of the ity if any in range ) being able to attack something not in a city :p

Well, if your AIs foes have mostly ICBM ( unlikely , but still ) , you are going to see a lot of fireworks in your cap or the older cities with lots of wonders in them. If they have more tacs ... well things get diferent and you can even soak most of the nukes by sending outdated military to the border instead of your shining hightech SoD, since the AI uses nukes as soon as it has a target for them ( actually the code has not a single line in both ICBM or tac nukes telling them to NOT use the nukes ... so, if there is a valid target, they will drop all avaliable nukes in it until there are no more targets in range or more nukes in the pile that can be used in that turn ) and the AI does not care if it is their territory or not when we are talking of tacs ( as long as it doesn't hit neutral third parties )

But again I'll go TMIT style : initiative is everything in turn based games, so it is better to put some suicide boots in the ground and raze the cities where the nukes are before they can launch them. Far safer.

Well I would first try to start some war between all of themselves. If that fails, see if you can't get some war allies after you declare. Finally, the suicide troops doe work well.

It is a good way to use some older troops that would be destroyed, so take all those warriors who have been defending your inner cities since 2500BC adn send them to get nuked lol.
