... this means while frozen, it reverts to standard unit art, while animating it should be actual unit art.
can you confirm this?
Yeah, I often play with all the graphics turned down, they do indeed change into vanilla civ4 units (usually warriors) when they aren't moving.
I am not sure which units are from other games or mods and which are unique to FfH, but Hyborem is definately my favorite unit overall.
I also like the general look of Basium but his figure seems to be a little undetailed (maybe he should have some tattoos or scars or more defined muscles).
I like the Infernal units the best, the imps and longbowmen with the purple flames looks really cool. They are very easy to see on the map and look awesome.
I really like the new dwarven units too, the goat chariot, boar rider, the new Bambur, especially the druid, scout, and worker. It is easy to tell that they are dwarves and they fit well the overall looks of things.
I also really like the shield wall even though it uses the phalanx from vanilla the circle they form is really cool, I wonder if its possible to make more unique formations for some of the units.
I also really like the religious symbol that appears behind the head of the priest units (though not the units themselves they're all great prophets)
I also like the assassins they have a good consistent style of wearing mostly black and being single figure but you can still tell if he is a dwarf or human. Would be cool if you could incorporate the movement animation of the great spy unit from vanilla for these guys.
In general it seems to me like a lot of the units don't stand out well against the background, not exactly sure why, maybe there isn't enough contrast against the browns and greens of the terrain. Could also be that many of the units take up much less space on the tile than in vanilla. And many of the animal type units appear in the corner of the tile so that could contribute as well. Maybe an overall increase in unit size would be good?
