pre turn - nada

1- Newcastle lib > market

3- London settler > harbor. check for trades. nada. we can get some lux deals, but dont really need those now.

5- Canterbury sword > sword, Richmond worker > harbor. move some troops to the island colonies.

6- London harbor > settler, Coventry sword > spear, Iron hill Lib > cat, Leeds lib > harbor. i offload 2 swords of russo-french isle.

8- London settler > lib, Canterbury ssword > harbor.

9- Coventry spear > spear, Oxford market > settler, Cambridge worker > harbor. drop 2 swords on fort apache.

10- Fort apache worker > barracks.

we have a settling galley in richmond - heading south.
bank - 672g + 52gpt.
SCI - started on MONO, but no turns spent on it yet.

The earliest I'll be able to play is Friday night, so if trikos or zavior want to jump in they can.

Otherwise, I got it.

i think we need more cats in da house.

I sorta, kinda agree. pizzaman is going to get mean anytime and cats would be nice to knock down the approaching legions. Not sure we can get then up and in place in time to do any good. Cathy is a joke unless my idiot chip has failed (no ponies for those cossacks). Think we grab knights, go kill Cathy. Then set up for pizza boy.

Waxing philisophic(as opposed to sophmoric as is usually the case), in most games there's a turning point when you know you've got the AI by the (insert regionally appropriate phrase here). IMHO, we're close.

Kutzov: We're there. But remember, we can't start a war.

Turn 0 -- 250 AD

Ah the middle ages, when a young man's fancy turns to ... armor

Quick review of the situation:
We are ahead of everyone in techs except for the French ( :love: Joan ) Russia and Arabia

who have Monarchy
We have luxury monopoly in Dyes, and with the Great Lighthouse we can trade them...but no

one seems to value them very much? Ah well.

I decide not to get Monarchy now as we don't need it.

I see Dye Forests building Forbidden Palace. Um, it's a first-ring city, does NOT need a

FP. I hastily change it to Temple of Artemis, which will give us some needed culture.

I decide to help us acquire more cash. Lit+Dyes to Babylong for Incense and their treasury;

Lit+Dyes+3G to Joan :love: for Furs and Ivory. Lux to 0%

Mono in 12 at +10G (although that won't last past the pending expiration of our GA). Oxford

to FP as it's a better site.

Send boat East to grab settler doing nothing in Romey Pokey.

IT:
Canterbury Harbor->Pult
Coventry Spear->Granary
Warwick Market->Settler
Iron Hill Pult->Aqueduct

My Palace expands!

Turn 1 -- 260 AD
Not too much happens

IT:
Dover Spear->Settler

Turn 2 -- 270 AD
Love the 2-move transport between SWeetpot and Richmond! I've sent some Workers south.

IT:
Canterbury Pult->Settler

Turn 3 -- 280 AD
Not much .. hurry some production with the excess cash.

IT:
London Library->Market
Leeds Harbor->RAX

Turn 4 -- 290 AD
I build Comeandgetme. Order up Harbor. (You'll understand when you see it)

IT:
Canterbury Settler->Granary
Warwick Settler->Granary
SWeetpot Market->Settler
Change London to Spear because we need guards for our settlers

Turn 5 -- 300 AD
Not much.

IT:
London Spear->Spear
Exeter riots! Missed that one somehow :wallbash:

Turn 6 -- 310 AD
Getting settlers ready to go sailing ...

IT:

IT:
London Spear->Spear
Dover Settler->Spear
Brighton Rax->Spear

Monotheism comes in. I order up Feudalism, due in 26.
Coventry Settler->Aqueduct
SWeetpot Settler->Granary

Turn 10 -- 350 AD
Settlers are almost there ...

I decide to take some more turns since the roster is low...

Turn 11 -- 360 AD
:sleep:

IT:
London Spear->Spear
Canterbury Granary->Aqueduct
Bristol Worker->Rax

Turn 12 -- 370 AD
Carlisle is built

IT:
Warwick Granary->Aqueduct

Turn 13 -- 380 AD
Ipswich is built. Another landmass claimed for the glory of England.

IT:
London Spear->Spear
Newcastle Settler->Granary

Turn 14 -- 390 AD
Portsmouth is founded.

IT:
Nada

Turn 15 -- 400 AD
:sleep:

Ok, I'm going to stop here :)

We have three settlers heading SW towards that last island. We're running out of places to settle (at least until we get Astronomy--or is it Navigation?)

I pray we get the Temple of Artemis. We need Culture *stat*. Luxes end in 5 turns. If we don't get the ToA, we're going to need to build Temples everywhere.

Here's some settling I've done:
sw1.JPG

I took a lot of workers off the main continent to get the other areas upgraded. We probably need to start concentrating on getting our core cities built up (Granary->Aqueduct->Temple/Cathedral)

If we get ToA (due in 9), start building Cathedrals asap!

updated roster

ChrTh - just played
trikos - skipped till you confirm ability to participate.
eldar - skipped till jan 30th - youre ON DECK.
admiral - playing now :king:
soul warrior - hoping to play tonite :)
zavior - was up, got skipped. presumed MIA.

just had a look in the lux situation.
Babylon has 2 gems, 3 incense AND foriegn colonies of her own.
Carthage has 2 spices + colonies overseas
Rome has gems (in Neapolis) and silks (location unknown)

i would really LOVE it if we can get some of those asap.
how about we make Carthage declare on us? Babylon will follow ( as they have a RoP with Carthage) we can take them out of the island (maybe give back one town)
but we will need to keep the Romans pacified.

just a thought...

The inability to declare war is going to be tough to deal with, but on the other hand, it's probably a good thing because we could probably conquer the world by the end of the Middle Ages with our current lead (and with the dearth of Iron for the other powers, especially France).

That being said, our troops are numerous but weak. I've started building RAXes on each of our settled landmasses where possible so we can upgrade everywhere, but to be honest, we can island-hop in 2-3 turns to almost everywhere now, so upgrading via the mainland works.

Joan :love: is in the middle ages. The Arabs are so backwards it's not even funny, but they don't any contacts but us yet...but once the world gets Ocean travel, that's going to end, and they're going to be the toughest opponent in the endgame.

Oh, and as for trading ... unless we want to give up our tech lead, we're not going to be able to trade for many luxuries. The other guys don't seem to value our dyes very much :twitch:

I think I took care of that with the placement of Loch Ness ;) See below.

I wouldn't mind taking on the Romans once we have MI. If we can get KT, the crusaders will be a nice balance against the legions.

No wars yet.

Recon - no chages.

Early - sold Abu Lit for 79g. French finish ToA. Arabs finish GW. Change DF to GLib. Berwick built.

Middle - Learn Monarchy. Rushed a lib. at Romey Pokey. Built Bath. Trade Dyes, PHil, Lit to Zulu for wines. Joan has learned currency. Trade Monarchy to Hammi for incense. Built Farsouthpoint.

Late - build Loch Ness. Joan building SunTzu.

Phew. I'm back. Things look pretty good... I guess I'm up next and I'll look at this tomorrow. Still a little jet-lagged.

Neil. :cool:

15 turn sets are ok for now, but I imagine once we get into wars or we hit the late Industrial it'll take too long ...
