http://bart.sm.luth.se/~johobe-1/sweden.zip

how to intall:

*back up your civ3mod.bic file. extract my civ3mod.bic file to your civ3 folder.

*create a new folder in art/units/ and call it Light Artillery.

*extract a files called light artillery something to the Light Artillery folder.

i tried that, but every time i went ro the diplomacy advisor screen i got an error message and the game was shut down. i would be great if somebody found a way to avoid that.

we discussed the swedish uu here:
http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?threadid=6083&pagenumber=7

the best and most famous cavalry the swedish army every had was the hakkapelitos during the 30 years war, and they came from finland.

ok, the russians have the cossacks, but i felt that an improved cannon would fit the swedish civ better.

however. i´ll try to change the swedsih mod so it don´t removes the germans.

btw. i´m almost the only one from sweden here that has civ3 and i think that´s why i haven´t got any complaints about the cities. i´ll post a list over the city names for the swedish when i come home, i´m in school right now. i didn´t care so much about put them in right order when i made this mod and i did problary forget some important cities.

city names:

Stockholm
Uppsala
Linköping
Göteborg
Jönköping
Norrköping
Västerås
Kalmar
Örebro
Lund
Falun
Gävle
Luleå
Malmö
Sundsvall
Helsningborg

i´m sure this list could be better. give me your opinions.

You can download Gustavus Adolphus leader images in my RK Bonus Leader Pack (look for the thread in this forum for more info).

Animepornstar, feel free to add them to your mod (or not) if you wish.

thank you. but it´s going slow to download it. 400 bytes/sec, when i usually can download things by 250+ kb/sec...

I have the same problem. Yahoo Briefcase isn't high on my list. I wish I had a better place to host it. If you know a place, let me know.

Why didn't you make Vasa the civs leader?

And another thing.. special unit, shouldn't that have been the Karolin? Extremly well trained and well-equipped, the army of the Karolins lead by Karl XII was the most powerful warmachine in the 17th (?) century, according to alot of people. :)

Great work with the mod anyway. :)

Hasn't anyone ever thought of making the Swedes or Viking civilization have a LONGSHIP as the special unit? It could be a trireme with an attack of 2, and doesn't flounder on the oceans like regular triremes do!

I've never heard of special swordsmen, cavalry or cannons from Sweden, but I'll bet almost everyone can identify with the Viking Longship as something special!

Tcchk, as if..! You're hardly the only Swede around here my dear animepornstar...

There's at least... Uhh... Like... Five of us altogether. :goodjob:

Well anyways, I hadn't noticed the modpack until I browsed past. But now I know which Civ I will play next time mind you. As I haven't yet tried it I can't give any input thus far, but I'll be sure to do when I have. The Carolins ( Karoliner ) would have been a good option for a UU IMHO, but I frankly don't know what added bonus they could have. What strikes me first is of course a more offensively able Musketman, but that would be the French Musketeer. On the other hand, I did rename the French Swedes and pretend the Musketeer was a Caroline ( or however they heck you would say it in english ) in my last game. ;) But yes, the cannon works as well.

And Wolfshanze, the Longship ( actually Dragonship if you translate it from what at least most of the Swedish vikings called them ) were solely attributed to the Vikings, and frankly, most of them came from Norway/Denmark/Iceland, not Sweden. The Swedish "Vikings" were a lot more concerned with farming and trading than they were with the stereotypical Viking things such as plundering and raiding and such. ;)

Had it been a Viking Civ we talked about the Longship would have been dandy, but it's hardly something to recognize the Swedish civlization by. Besides, who really identifies for example Babylon with an archer? Or the persians with the "Immortal"? I don't, anyways.

Well, that'll be that then. :nuke:

What about adding:
Skara
Eskilstuna
Växjö
Borås
Visby (Very important to medieval trading in the baltic)
Åbo
Helsingfors
Viborg
Reval
Uleåborg
Umeå

I can name many more, but these are recommended

Hey, I have a few suggestions:
First of all, the city of Luleå should be included. Regardless of peoples thoughts, the area around Luleå has the largest populational concentration north of Sundsvall.

Secondly: What I propose is that instead of making a light artillery, you make an air defence unit, or simply a better aircraft, to be avilible the industrial age. Right after World War II, Sweden had the fourth largest aircraft capacity, after U.S.A., the Soviet Union and Great Brittain.

First of all thanks for the help. I added the mod and the pics to make a complete mod. Really nice to be able to play Sweden.

I have added some more cities and leaders. Here they are, have fun.. :)

wow:eek: , this thread is still alive. is though it was dead since a long time ago, but that was problary because civ3 wasn´t released in sweden when i made the mod:suicide: .

however, it´s cool to hear from people from örnsköldsvik (my former hometown) and luleå (where i live now, and it is included in the mod), i would like to have some pics of gustav II adolf for this mod. i haven´t had time to make some pics myself and the link ryank posted doesn´t work anymore. does anyone have any?

the choice of gustav II adolf as leader was natural as he is the most famous, most powerful(together with oxenstierna) and most successful leader sweden ever had. i took the light artillery because it was the most important part of the new kind of warfare sweden introduced in the 30 years war, but the problem is that the artillery can´t win combats in civ3, which i didn´t knew when i created the mod...:( so, you need to build wonders to trigger the golden age.:(

edit: ryank´s link works now!:goodjob:
