SysNES 1: A Murky Pool of Light

@alex, Kal gets an e boost from being Cyborganised, which is applied before rounding. Also a prudent individual might be more worried over what happened to the Ik probe instead of crowing about yours surviving.

OOC: I forgot about the traits :(

Well, via the process of elimination, one could have a very good idea of where the probe was destroyed and then look at the distance map to see if it is possible those military actors could possibly reach me. :)

@Dis, I think something is wrong with kal's e production. Maybe my math sucks, but I just can't get it to add up to 32; it rounds up to around 30 :(

Hey, my e production is legitimately earned....:P. Although Maybe I should do some graphs to check various amounts of growth amongst the societies.

Anyone else want a comparative analysis? (I assume Dis has, or can easily do it but hey this would be fun)

Get kal or alex to explain them, they seem to have caught on well enough ;). Its simpler than it looks, the length of rules are just making everything explicit.

If you want to design your own society send me a PM, or you can take over the Vazan (currently the strongest industrial power).

I'd take over Vazan, as I am not sure if I could actually go onward with a new society.

I know how you feel Milarqui. At first I thought the rules would be the death of me. However just read them over carefully and after you write your first set of orders and get the hang of the ship designer and habitat calc it becomes pretty easy. Orders typically take me around 10 minutes to write because, tbh, there is so little to do right now (in a good way) and the spending system is so streamlined that finding out what to spend is pretty simple. The fact that Dis included the calculators for costs is an amazing time saver, if he hadn't then I don't think this NES would be possible.

In any case, welcome if you are going to be joining :)

Oh, that probably makes the situation more complicated with regards to helping you.

Anyway; welcome to the system Zavi. I am your arrogant neighbours the Kations, we are currently being mean to you and keeping you from the rocky planets Zavi III, IV and V. Mostly because we're worried about your material production and population advantages.

Dis had been half-heartadly following through with a diplo deal with you that I'm going to assume is not on the table any more because there are better places for you to expand (like the planet your currently on is basically the best, at the moment, in the system, it is however quite expensive to build upon, you currently have enough e to build 2 more beta habitats however, and that would once mines were constructed, increase your e by 30 ish (mines + 10% e bonus cyborgs get, which we both are).)

You could try settling on one of the rocky planets but my fighters are likely to intercept that and thus waste your investment :/ (I'm currently seeking ways for the vazan to soothe my kations arrogant ego, and make it IC)

The deal dis and I were discussing was helping to build a beta hab on the planet I'm on Zavi VIa (its a moon), to get the Vazan access to volatiles. That would increase your e by 25% of you population, and also increase farm output by 2. So not really that big of a concern at the moment.

Zavi I is basically a less productive more expensive to settle version of your planet, although I think it has good terraforming possibilities in the future.

EDIT:
@Milarqui: Cool beans. Don't let Kal'thzar scam you into giving away all your e though

I briefly considered it :)

Not especially, its a new planet, so you have to build an alpha habitat on it first, then move a pop unit over (2 e).

Because its a new planet, the alpha hab costs 4 times the base cost of building an alpha on that planet; 45 e. Then you can build beta habs on the planet for 68 e, moreover, you can extract less resources from it compared to the planet your currently on.

So best bet (i.e. 100% success) is expansion of your planet Zavi II.

Or we can come up with a deal where you can provide me with some juicy e and we can negotiate something.

Nah. I think I'll expand in Zavi II first.

OOC: Lies! I wish I knew the rules better :p

And OOC wise guys, should I send my probe to Errai or Kaus first? :D

From the Office of the Metatron of the (God in the) Garden
To the Shadow Lords of the Soulon League

In three different ways your government has violated the overly generous agreement made between us.
  1. The attempted takeover of Region Two on Kaus III, despite only being given Region Three by the treaty.
  2. The deployment of IP warships over a world (Kaus V) shared between our concordat and the Soulon League.
  3. The failure to construct the required habs on Kaus IV, instead choosing to build them on the much-more-distance Kaus V.

The majority of us have grown skeptical of your desire for peace, and even those like myself who retain some faith in your better natures are beginning to lose patience. We have compiled a list of six necessary steps that can re-open a dialog with our government, and give us the credibility at home to continue to do business with you.
  1. A delegation of the Shadow Lords will arrive on Kaus II and give a public apology for the deaths on Kaus III, and other breaches of the treaty. Their safety will be assured by every means available to the Metatron, the Combined Fleet, the Most Reverend Council, and the entire Concordat.
  2. Other matters relating to future relations between our governments will be discussed, as a secondary goal.
  3. The Habitat on Kaus V will be retroactively purchased by us for 20e.
  4. The Habitat on Kaus IV that you agreed to build for us, will be built.
  5. IP Warships of the Soulon League will not be allowed further in-system than Kaus VI. As Kaus II, III, IV, and V would be off-limits under the agreement to not station warships over shared worlds, this only affects Kaus II.
  6. Allowing the establishment of a Gardener Mission in the Soulon territory on Kaus III, so that we can educate your population on living in harmony with your environment.

To: Gardeners
From: Soulon League

We apologize for our errors, but we are truly a people looking out for our survival, namely, securing food, and thus our only presence on Kaus III is for such, and nothing esle, and we wish to reaffirm this with yourselves. The latter 2 errors listed were simply administrative mistakes (mine), and those responsible for the errors have been removed. As for the incident on Kaus, there is no mention in the treaty signed of a division of Kaus III between our polities, and clearly confusion was caused. Perhaps a revision should be made?

We agree to your six terms towards reconcilation between our governments.:)

I think I have grasped how the rules are (took me 4-5 readings to do that!) and have sent orders.

Hope that they are good enough (and I'd better see my Cunning Plans become fruitful! Though, considering the existence of GAIA III... Could a virus find its way into GAIA III and put forward my plans?)

Errai; more interesting politics + lots of potential planets to colonise if the others don't get their act together :p
