Welcome, the Ik! We, like yourselves, are voyagers of the stars, and while not having the fortune of visiting your home system as of yet, we have ventured and explored to other systems nevertheless. In the interest in peace and cooperation between ourselves, we would be interested in the sharing of maps and details of the systems we have explored, to each other. Specifically, the Soulon league will transfer data of the Izar and Azimech in return for Ik knowledge of the Horn and Wei systems, which seems agreeable, no?:)

We send our most humble greetings to you. We hope that you to will allow us safe passage through your worlds in order to visit the Gardeners and resupply. If this is not possible then we ask that you, instead, allow us to resupply at one of your space stations.

ooc: Dis, can pop and soldiers be transported to a diff system and put on a world with just a burst drive, cargo shell? Or does it need an Ion drive.

No you need some sort of IP drive to get from the system rim to any of the planets. Also please note that the worlds are organised in a line on the map for visualisation purposes - the vast majority of a star system is empty three dimensional space and you do not have to go past a Soulon world to get to Kaus II.
 
What about the thing where people have been towing probes or cargo shells around?

@Shadowbound, that was a special dispensation for the 'Al on one single occasion as a) they're mental, and b) I didn't want a player wiped out in the first 10 turns. Of course Immaculate decided to repay me by quiting...
 
Hey this NES is mostly 3-4 on the Moh Scale of Science fiction hardness, only the Ansibyl Pearls aftifacts mark a declension to stages 1 and 3 (Its also 'very hard' to 'plausibly hard' on the Kheper grading system). The reason your people are avoiding the cheap planet crackers is because a) drives aren't so cheap at significant portions of planetary budget surplus and b) the cultural substrate your coming from after the end of the Federation regards such things as abhorrent - like incest or worse (also I say so).

Also that websites formatting is horrible.

Yeah the 'Common Misconceptions' page is alright, short, and possibly required reading for those who want to write stories set on ships ;).

Certainly a lot less reaction mass will be need for ships in here though (50% at most :)), and the 'no stealth in space' definitately holds (quiet drives are only for escape as they are harder to pick up against a planets electromagnetic background/a bunch of chaff and heat sources you just dumped, they are not going to allow a stealthy approach - you'll need backstabbing for that).

Well it would allow you to trade e much more easily (and thus pay for science trading), and higher in the tech tree there may or may not be facilities that would give a benefit for a larger trade net :mischief:.
