Takeo takes on Deity

Dude, when I joined this forum I didn't even know how to raise money for your tech or anything.:crazyeye: I used to hate it. NOW I'm better in to it.

Nice work Takeo, can't wait for the next update.;)

What is "civil defense"?

It's a city improvement, that becomes available in the industrial age and gives a 50% defensive bonus to units inside the city.

@conquer_dude- Thanks! Should be able to get in an update tonight. It is taking a while, cause there are 3 different wars happening at the same time. I would like to stick with Babylon on updates, till that war is over. Then updates will actually go back in time a bit to update war with Japan & Russia.

How strong are the Russians? Aren't they pretty weak? They only have like 6 cities down there.

Dropped off just 1 army to deal with entire island.

hahahahahaha

They must suck then! They must be like way behind in tech. Probably still in the ancient age. <Just jokin. Why didn't they colonize any islands besides the one their on?:crazyeye:

World at War
Everyone is now entangled with more than one opponent.
424-jap_baba_vs_china.JPG

Russia is basically a non-issue, so besides that it is 2 vs. 2; China and France vs. Japan and Babylon.

Babylon's SOD, or what was left of it, moved away for one turn, then came back in 1510. This time there were only 31 infantry and 3 mobile sams that came to play.
438-sod_at_ivory.JPG

All 34 Babylonian troops are wiped from existance. After healing, eight MA armies move out and deploy outside of Eridu and Ashur.

In 1520, Eridu is captured and France now controls the extinct Statue of Zeus. Ashur and Akkad are also captured.
442-Eridu_captured.JPG

All three cities were protected by 2 tow infantry and 3 normal infantry. The tow infantry are proving to be tough, with 2 MA armies taken into the red, during the battles. Capturing cities and then selling off the improvements has become the standard, cause it is so profitable. Prior to burning the three cities to the ground, all buildings are sold off for 760g!!!
A stack of modern armor is now poised outside of the Babylonian capital. Babylon is a huge size-30 metropolis and is brimming with defensive troops. To ensure the battle is won, 6 MA armies and a dozen single modern armor units are preparing to attack in 1525. If Hammurabi is smart, he should be currently moving his private headquarters.:p

Just out of reach
Hammurabi gets lucky, as oil is discovered on his own isle. Before he has a chance to upgrade his infantry, French destroyers move in and bombard the oil field.
439-baba_2nd_oil.JPG

Only time will tell, whether Babylonian factories had time to retool.

Cruise missles and convoys
Backdoor has witnessed a number of Babylonian convoys cruising by. Artillery have been taking potshots at them, but with the arrival of some cruise missles, the situation is about to change.
This time artillery redline 3 transports and their protectors- 9 destroyers and a cruiser. Then cruise missles easily finish off all 13 ships. I almost feel sad. Almost.

Coalition forces
Two MA armies were shipped over to the Babylon isle, from Backdoor, in 1510. They set up outside of New Pi-Ramesses, only to realize our allies are on the other side of a Pi-Ram sandwich.

Thanks. Will report on Russia when they have been taken care of.;)
Russia was brought up to the modern age to see what free tech they would get and to trade for it. Thought that was posted here, but maybe I'm remembering wrong.
Edit-it is on page 10, post 197

Just a quick question, which is sort of related to this story. How do you tell what government computer civs (AS) are in?

Paratroopers-R-Us
With all the military operations happening around the world, there have been several paratroopers just itching to get some action. No good oppurtunities have come along, till now. Several turns ago, an MA army was sent deep behind enemy lines to keep watch on Babylon's new oil field. The army was to make sure that Babylonian workers did not lay a road, to connect the oil to their network. Artillery and cruise missles have pounded it down to 3 health points. This beleaguered army is in need of instant help. A captured worker erects a temporary airfield and the airborne troops are on their way.

The paratroopers end up absorbing several attacks and the MA army is preserved.

Aircraft Carriers sink too
Backdoor witnesses 5 Babylonian carriers drift by, on their way to China. One of them lags behind and is quickly sunk by artillery and cruise missles. With all the ships clogging the bottom of this channel, nothing should be able to get thru.

Hamy, where's your core?
As of 1535, Babylon no longer has a prime core.
431-baba_isle_1500.JPG

The capital city of Babylon fell in 1525 and Hammurabi escaped to fight another day. He sure did leave a pile of troops to do his dirtywork tho. When the dust had settled, France was the new owner of the Pyramids, Sistine Chapel and Smith's Trading Company.
431-pyra.JPG

Had been planning on keeping Babylon, cause of Smith's and Sistine Chapel. But, this world conquest is not far from over and culture flips would be a pain. Babylon, the culture capital of the world, is razed to the ground. Don't think I have ever destroyed the Pyramids before.

Ellipi, Shuruppak, Uruk, Samarra, Zariqum and Eulbar are all captured in the next two turns. The city improvements in each are sold off for a grand total of 1445 gold. Woohoo! Each city is leveled to the ground with earth-shaking explosians.
462-babs_island.JPG

Eulbar the bloody
The city of Eulbar was especially well-protected. Having a hurt MA army and 3 paratroopers on a nearby mountain has caused Babylon to bulk up the defenders in Eulbar. Two tow infantry and 11 infantry, valiantly defended the metropolis to their death, taking 2 French modern armor with them. Here is the list of units that participated in the battle and only a few are left in fighting condition.

Seven local luxuries
Just northeast of former Samarra, a settler founds Diamonds-R-Forever. This town will bring gems into the luxury network.

Only 1 luxury(silks) is being imported from another nation, and that is China. Won't be long and they will be in the crosshairs.:sniper:

With Operation:Retribution well under way and Babylon back on it's heels, let's go back in time a little ways. In 1480, the war with Babylon has been going on for a few turns and Hammurabi allies with Tokugawa. Around this time, almost all the Babylonian cities on the super-continent have been taken care of. The cavalry and tank armies that are in the area, take out a few Japanese cities and colonies, that are far from their empire. French forces begin to enter Japan proper in 1495. Japan is only halfway thru the industrial age and has only infantry and cavalry. Tokugawa and his nation will be exterminated before they have a use for oil, so obselete cavalry and tanks will do the job fine. This will be for the most part a series of pictures showing the progress of the conquest.

The remaining Japanese cities are on two islands, so Port Kyoto is founded on the shoreline. Several transports will be purchased, the armies will make the crossing and the conquest will continue.

Scientific Research
Scientists completed research on Fission in 1545, and Space Flight is dialed in for the next project.

Orleans is building the Manhattan Project Great Wonder, to gain access to tactical nuclear missles. About a dozen other cities are building nuclear submarines. Can anyone guess who all this will be aimed at?

You!:p

But, of course, you'll still kick their butt.

I was surprised at how FAST you kicked the Jap's butt!!

I am interested in seeing in how fast you can win this game. Somewhere around 1600 AD?

It would probably be possible to win by 1600, but I have a yearning to finish off the last civ with :nuke: nuclear:nuke: weapons.

1555-1585 A.D.

Japan is dwindling
Operation: Katana continues to meet with great success. Tank and Cavalry armies, working in tandem, really overwhelm infantry. Tokugawa has had his empire reduced to an island with 8 cities and two other 1-city islet's. After purchasing transports for a few turns, the conquest continues.

French forces arrive at Tokugawa's new capital and are unable to land on the beach. This attack will have to wait for the introduction of marines, or maybe an ICBM.;)

Peace is made with Japan. Tokugawa can sit and stew on his little island!
