The Russian Campaign
1500-1610 A.D.
Operation: Flyswat
Russia began the game with a really poor starting position and ended up with just a handful of cities. With being so busy with Babylon and Japan, only 1 army(of modern armor) was delegated to take on these few cities. Catherine's army consists of 6 tow infantry, around 15 riflemen and 10 longbowmen. The MA army landed ashore in 1500 and the attack commenced the next turn.
A few Russian riflemen tried to reinforce St. Petersburg, but were too late! The transport entered the city, picked up the army and dropped it right next to Moscow. It looked like this was going to be easy.
The first tow infantry in Moscow fell easily. The second fought tenaciously and reduced the army to 3 health pts. The wounded and embarrased army limped to a hill to heal.
This was a very inauspicious beginning to the campaign!
After healing, the army bypassed Moscow and headed straight for Krasnoyarsk, and Novgorad after that.
With the capture of Novgorad, the Russian military was finally showing up in force. Was Catherine getting worried and desperate. You know, you really should keep all your units in your cities, to protect them better!
Yaroslavl' is the next city to fall. The French army heads for Moscow, thinking that is all that's left. But, Russia has retaken Yekaterinbug from China and has also settled two new cities.
The army heads for the newly settled Khabarovsk, pillaging roads along the way. Khabarovsk is left open after capture and Russian units head slowly for it, thru un-roaded territory. Before it can be retaken by Russia, it is abandoned and my army is now sitting next to Moscow. Heehee! Moscow is taken without hitch, this time.
Many Russian units are just milling around, out in the open.
The Russian capital switches to Bryansk and then Yekaterinburg. Both cities are taken easily, with all the Russian forces just wandering around aimlessly. Are they confused, or is it just too cold in tundra territory?
Catherine is left to freeze in her tundra 'home', any shelters she had have been razed to the ground.
