Tea Party leader desirous of Property requirement for voting

You have a place for the discussion that certain people can't go.... :mischief:
TBH, when I posted this, I did so so quickly and was in the middle of a couple of other things, so I totally blanked on that. But you are right. :)

Tx Whomp! :)

Because they aren't contributing anything, so why should they choose where my money goes?

If these welfare recipients do not get to vote, then representation in congress will not reflect the fact that a certain amount of people feel the need to be on welfare long term. And less solutions, be they conservative, liberal, libertarian or socialist will be targeted at the problem.

Now, if they did taxation my way (Just a 12% sales tax and inheritance tax) then I would agree no reform is needed. But with a highly lopsided system like we have now, something is needed. I still don't agree with Philips though.

Um, under your system welfare recipients will just be paying that sales tax with your tax dollars anyway so why is that any different? You do realize that they already do this in states that have sales tax? Not to mention federal and state gasoline taxes that people on welfare pay.

Interestingly enough, I saw a study on the EITC where every dollar given back to the individual through the EITC program generates anywhere from $1.50 to $2.00 in local economic activity.

You are aware a sales tax is regressive?
And are you also aware of what a regressive tax is?
If so, frankly this is on a level that makes Christine O'Donnell look like Einstein.
And are you still against Milton Friedman's Negative Income Tax?
If yes, do you know who Milton Friedman is?

Milton Friedman is up there with Adam Smith and Ayn Rand as a person Libertarians love to worship, but whose actual opinions they like to ignore.

Cool.

You're arguing with a 15 year old who likely has zero experience with the world outside of his sheltered upbringing.

Then it is all the easier to assimilate him!:borg:
Resistance is Futile!

Tea party reveals that they hate America

The far-right does seem to have a propensity to simply ignore any parts of the Constitution and federal law with which they don't happen to agree, or even find convenient. Trying to disenfranchise those who have different political opinions is a tactic which has been frequently used in the past. It's not much of a surprise that they continue to try to do so.

Take Back America? Are these people Native Americans that are crossdressing as colonists? It is all beginning to make sense now.

It would certainly improve the quality of governance quite a bit, but it will never happen.

Since when is ownership of property a requirement to be a good politician?

How? How could you possibly say something so boneheadedly stupid?

Look at every single government elected by a restricted franchise, and you will see a small minority continuously maintaining their control over society through greed and corruption. There is no way that such a system could possibly be better than the one we currently use, imperfect as it is.

Or are you one of the gilded few who's only goal in life is to sieze power by fair means or foul and then use it to enhance your position to the detriment of others? As that is the only way I can see you actually being better off by taking such an anti-humanity position.

Take Back America?

According to Darlene McBride, they have been trying to take back America since 1955:

Apparently, it works so well in India? :dunno:

Let's not jump to conclusions here. Simply because some people have no faith in a true representative form of government where everybody has suffrage doesn't necessarily mean that view is the embodiment of Satan.

Even I wouldn't have expected this though. I mean this is... straightjacket type madness. If enough people both heard and thought about this, the Tea Party would vanish overnight.

Most of my friends are far-right, so this is not the first time I've heard this point made. You'd be surprised at what passes as a good idea here in the states.
