due to a windows re-installation, i`ll be guangxi2 when i eventually finish a WU.

Hey I'm going to be back in the race, lads. I've just installed it on my work PC :)

I will also probably put it back on my new home PC, so...CPUs are coming in!

booo hissss, 91% of the way thru a 186 point fold and it decides it cannot continue. For this, I get 18 pts! :gripe:

My last WU decided at 95 % to start again from the beginning. :(
I back up my folding directory just in case this happens - it's usually caused by a power glitch or my PC crashing (Civ 4 main culprit). If on restart it starts from the beginning I restore the last backup to allow it to continue.

PS: have you noticed we're nearing the 300 spot?

Yes Dojo is a mac user and was recruited on the mac forums on http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=4934902

That was probably the best result of that thread for the team as he is generating about 10% of the points for the team.

we should hit 300 around 21/03 (3/21 for those who prefer dates in US format!)

I am surprised by the way that we are still climbing through the rankings. At current rates we will be close to 200 by the end of the year.

How do you stop the folder running as a service without losing the current work package?

 I thought the question meant something else, and I didn't understand.

I pause work whenever I'm sure that I'll be loading an intensive program.

Right click the folding icon on your toolbar and select 'Pause Work'.
I'm running my folding as a service so (IIRC), I don't have a folding icon on my toolbar.

How do you stop the folder running as a service without losing the current work package?

Click "Run" in the start menu, type services.msc, click FAH*, click either pause or stop service.

You should also do this before changing and of the config settings.

So should I turn off the folding while playing games? Or is there an easier solution to the problem I am having when playing GTA San Andreas?

I can play the game fine except for everytime there is a cut-scene or I enter a building (scene change) the game alt-tabs back to the desktop. The game is still running and I can hear it being played, but I have to press 'esc' (to pause the game) and then alt-tab back to the game and unpause it and continue playing. Never had this problem before I used the folding program.

I find folding doesn't affect the games I play, but I turn it off if I remember as Civ 4 can crash my PC and I don't want it to mess up the folding. I have one game that minimises and goes back to the desktop (think it's Rome Total War but can't remember off-hand) and I have to keep maximising it several times to get it back as it keeps minimising. It does it whether folding is running or not though, turning off the office toolbar reduces the problem considerably.

Try pausing it or turning it off and see if it solves the problem.

I tried pausing it and it didn't help at all. I even tried turning down the 'CPU usage percent', even all the way down and it didn't help.

If I pause it, then quit, does it lose all the work?

It shouldn't do - worst case it will go back to its last saved check point (thats what happens if you hit the off switch). Progress gets saved every 15 minutes by default although it is configurable by the user. If you stop the programme (with or without pausing) then you shouldn't lose any progress.
