Frustrating. This could be my problem. I know this is only a beta, but... Well, whatever. I'm sure people on the F@H forums have complained about this plenty.
I have been trying to leave my MPB connected with an ethernet cable. On the occasions that I have disconnected, the airport card picks up a neighbour's signal almost immediately (I need a new wireless router). I wonder if those few seconds of disconnect are enough to interrupt the folding?
Almost certainly. The SMP client communicates between the four concurrent processes via IP connections. These go via the loopback adapter in the current network interface driver, as can be seen if you open the Activity Monitor. The network traffic level is scary. If the IP address is lost, even momentarily, that traffic will fail and the WU aborts.

Basically, you can't disconnect the network interface while folding. You have to shut down before making any network reconfiguration.

Wow that sounds like one heck of a cludge job. Needing to go all the way to the Network for inter core communication is rather sad. Though I suppose it probably was the easiest way to port over clustered comp code they have still it makes for a very poor setup for alot of folding users.

I've got my F@H on my home computer stuck to "Trying to send data' for almost a week now. :( I've tried stopping it and restarting it, but to no avail.
Any ideas?

Me too. But in my case it works on the next WU.

Any ideas?

By the way dhighland it still says Dave.

You could try deleting the FAH folder and reinstalling the program.. some file might have become corrupted.

Where are you getting your information? The project list on this page lists the WU points value for each project in the "Credit" column. The highest number I can see in that column is 1760.00

Well, i'm just taking the points in the lower right section. I call them points :p

As I run a Mac client I don't know what the lower right section of your display looks like, but I suspect you are looking at the number of steps in the WU calculation, not the points that are awarded for completing it. The number of steps is not a useful figure, as steps are different sizes for different WUs.

Your production history (as Dave) is shown here and here. They both show you completed a 226 point unit 10 days ago, and it looks like you got 57 points for a part-completed unit the following day. There are no completed work units credited to Dave since then. Dhighland still doesn't appear on the lists.

It appears it's "sending the results" again.

And I went to Configure, and changed my username to Dhighland, I don't know why it won't change on the list.

Completed units are always credited to the name they were folded in. The Folding servers don't track you and rename your old units. The two units you have that are credited to Dave will remain Dave's forever. If you changed your Client name after the current unit started then I think that unit will also be credited to Dave. New units are credited to whatever name and team is set up in your client at the time you start them.

Just wanted to drop by and say hi - both to the old-timers and to the new contributors. :)

Been busy with RL too much so I haven't had time to participate in the forums as I would like to be able to. The team is kicking out some serious points so congrats to everyone.

Okay, I think I finally got the 5000 one sent to the list, after what, 4 days of it doing nothing? I'm almost half done a 4000 one.

What is the WU project number as that will give a better time estimate of how long it should take. It's normal for a project to take a couple days or so to finish. This just shows how complex these calculations really are and why we are needed to help with the effort.
