No pointless building up your civ only for the game to end without a single shot being fired because it has been 3 hours and everyone has to go to bed.

The game starts... 10 turns later someone is dead... 20 turns later its all out war. 2 hours later and the war is over, and somebody has won the game. Now Thats what I call fun.

I wish the MTDG was on that kind of map. We'd be planning the next one by now.

But I can't really play Civ 5 yet. I bought it 2 days ago, thinking my compys met the minimum specs, but it runs godawful slow, even with all the graphics settings turned down. So I will have to wait until I get a better compy to play (I have the same issue with Starcraft II ).

Maybe there will be a Civ 5 MTDG?!?... Then I could participate at least, albeit without playing turns.

I dont have it yet, but the demo wouldn't even star for me. I was gonna uninstall a ton of games from my comp and then get civ 5, so maybe it would run fast enough to make it playable.

This program has never let me down, and when I dont listen to it, I have always paid the price.

Some examples:
1. When Civ 4 came out my laptop met the minimum specs for the game listed on the box. Unfortunately, my desktop had deficient RAM and a deficient Processor. To be sure, when I ran this program on my old Laptop and my desktop. I got the result- "You cant run it "

I didn't listen and bought Civ 4 anyway and I got the dreaded "black screen effect." Civ 4 was unplayable on both Computers. I checked what the program said was deficient, and for the both computers it was the integrated Graphics chip. This problem was not fix-able on my laptop, but I bought a new graphics card and more RAM for my desktop. After installing I checked System Requirements Lab (SRL) and viola... the desktop passed , even though according to the box, it was deficient. So I ran Civ 4 and it works great. EVEN the intro MOVIES run smoothly. I had to get a new Laptop before I could run Civ 4 on my laptop, just as SRL suggested.

2. When Starcraft came out, I checked the box, and it seemed like I was good to go for Starcraft II on both my laptops. But when I bought it, it was way tooooo slowwwwwwww. So I remembered SRL and guess what? SRL tells me that the processor is too slow on both compys.

3. When Civ 5 was coming out, I tried to check SRL, but it was not rating Civ 5 yet. When I bought it, I asked the Geek Squad guy at the store if it would run OK, and he looks at the box and then looks up my computer model, and tells me I am good to go, I just need more RAM. So I buy more RAM and guess what? Tooooo SloOOOOWWWW.. I check SRL a couple days later, and Civ 5 is listed now. SRL tells me that I need a faster processor, to run Civ 5, thus, a new laptop.

Before you buy Civ 5, check SRL... and DON'T GO BY WHAT IT SAYS ON THE BOX and don't listen to the guy at the store. Go to SRL first. If SRL says you can run it, you can. If it gives you a "fail" score , dont second guess, believe me. It might load, but it wont run well enough to play.

Wow... I have rediscovered Zelda Ocarina of time via Emulator. I had it back in the day for 64 but lost interest after beating the first boss and getting Sarias song...

I have to say... wow... this game is QUALITY!

I think this replaces Zelda 2 as my favourite (which I also got reacquainted with via emulation). I played all the way through it recently after not playing it for over 20 years...wow that's crazy.

Anyway, I have gotten into emulation since my compy is too weak to enjoy civ5. Waiting until I get a new rig to really get back into civ... still following this MTDG though (obviously).

Ah yes. OoT is a great, great game. I played through it about 7-8 times when I was a kid.

There's a new one coming out for Wii IIRC. Try out OoT first. I bet you'd like it.
You can use emulation (only if you have actually bought the real game at some point of course ).

Don't forget Majora's Mask. That was a great Zelda too that tends to get forgotten. A bit more "avant garde" if you ever want to call a Zelda game that.

Oh yeah, I LARPed for the first time yesterday. No-one would believe it was my first time. It was great fun!
