Term 6 - The North Province

Cyc,

I noticed that your statement still remains in my office thread. I would appreciate it if you could resolve this matter in there as well. I think I have more than proven in the discussion threads that I am no one's "lackey."

Also, please change the Rifleman in Valhalla's build queue to an Aqueduct per our previous agreement. You will notice that a Rifleman now stands guard there at your request. See, I listen..... ;)

Done DZ.

My deepest regrets, Lord Shaitan. I was just on my way here to welcome you here as a Mayor. The Rhineland, heh? Will that mean we will call you Capt. Sand instead of Capt. Snow? Well, good luck, sir.

As the Governor of The North Province, I urge all of our other Governors to go to the PI threads and post their opinions. Your rights are on the line here. Let your voice be heard.

As Governor of The North province, I have decided on a few names for the natural terrain features in the Province.

The Mountain range stretching from SE of Dapperdan to the area South of Kuhkaff shall be named The Uncompahgre Mountains

The hills in the Northern part of the Province shall be named The Northern Hills

The grasslands and tundra between the two shall be named Cyc Valley

 Thank you for the opportunity to name these natural terrain features in the great land of The North province.

Below is a picture showing the terrain features with their new names.

"Uncompahgre"... I didn't know you live in Colorado, Cyc.

Pity it took this long for all the governors to start naming things in their provinces. (admittedly, I really didn't help :p).

You're absolutely right, Plexus. The Uncompahgre Region is in Colorado. Have you been there? It's absolutely beautiful.

I lived there in my youth. I was there longer than any other place I've lived, so it was basically home.

For extra points, can you tell me what Uncompahgre means in English?

Build Queues, Worker Actions, and Laborer Assignments have been updated in the 2nd post of this thread.

Governor Cyc,

Please check out my proposal in this thread to ensure that we make the most of our Golden Age. Any further questions or comments you have would be appreciated.

Once you have read over this plan, I will be in touch to see how we can best carry it out.

Also, Cyc, I am well aware of your issues with workers leaving the province. I will do whatever I can to get some of them back to North Province a soon as possible.

Build Queues, Worker Actions, and Micromanagement have been updated for the 02/20/03 t/c.

@Donovan Zoi - I have replied to your Golden Age thread with comments. I have also posted the same thing plus more in your Golden Age poll. I hope my comments meet with your approval.

@Cyc: Uncompahgre: Ute for: "where water makes rock red"... passed through on my way from Michigan to California. :D

Governor Cyc,

I read your comments and responded to them:

Cyc, this plan was meant for short-term benefit. However, you are correct....Valhalla can only use 3(my count at last save) sea tiles; 4 if you are kind enough to use the sea square 2 spots NE for Naerva to free one up for Valhalla.

You see, Naerva doesn't even have an aqueduct yet, and I wouldn't recommend using our Golden Age to build one now. I can send a worker there to get it to Size 6 and would recommend using the unroaded forest to maximize Naerva's production. I would then request that Naerva either exclusively build Riflemen(we need some cities for this to offset the Pike disbands. If you prefer, you can build a Factory there.

Let me know what you think.

In addition:

I am assuming your other two factory locations would be Androbius and Gunningheim(the first two being Valhalla and Naerva; Kuhkaff in 4?). While I am fine with the other 3, I would like to hold off on those two and use them for rifle production.

My reasoning for this is two-fold:

1. 10-15 shield/pt cities would be prefered for Rifleman replenishment. Your two cities are prime candidates for this objective.

2. Just like you, I am a bit worried about too many Factories too fast. I think we should hold off on these two cities until we have an adequate rail network to instantly reach these cities. Otherwise, like you said, pollution could pose a huge problem.

@ Donvan - I see your point about long term versus short term (GA), so go ahead with Valhalla and don't spend any workers on Naerva until it gets its Aqueduct. I posted more fully in your Golden Age thread.

I need those factories now, DZ. By making them Rifle Factories, you're talking 2.5 to 3 Rifles each during the GA. If I get my Factories now, I'll be able to that in a lot less time. Too many demands need to be satisfied and by building my Factories during this gift period of a Golden Age, I will be able to meet those demands and still get the improvements my Province needs. Gunningheim will be done with its Factory before the GA is over and Androbius will be done in less time than that. We're just going to have to keep some workers monitoring pollution. The Factories wont be done for quite a while. It's not like their going to be done this turn chat. Naerva will take the longest of the 4 and if we were really worried about congestion of Factories causing smog, we should take out the Factory in Valhalla of Kuhkaff, not one of the outlying Factories.

So take the sea tiles for Valhalla and leave me my Factories. Thanks.

@ Plexus - That's an interesting translation and is quite possibly correct. But it differs from the one I'm used to. Let me check my sources to make sure I know what I'm talking about. Thanks much for answering. :)

Keep in mind that with Androbius, the production numbers are enhanced because of our Golden Age. Once our GA goes away, a new factory in Androbius would only net 3-4 more shields(about as much as it is producing right now). Since Andobius is primarily grassland, I would rather see this city work on growth and commercial objectives, and not spend the 3gpt maintenance for a factory there.

Please let me know if you agree.

The people are thirsty, sire - they want to know when you're planning to give us the channeled water(aqueduct) we so sorely need.

Reading DZ post on GA:
My eager citizens are ready to be industrialized :)
However if I am to understand your discussion (this thread), you have agreed on the following:
No aqueduct, but factory for Naerva.
Is this correct?
In my opinion that would give some kind of boost to shields, though without the aqueduct to grow with, increase in shields will be marginal. (I am certain you have made the same conclution)
On the other hand, building both the aqueduct and the factory would probably consume much - if not all - of the goldenage; and i understand there are other issues at hand that require for Naerva's shields to be tied up to a different kind of production.
I will - though my attempt may easily be ignored - request that the aqueduct and factory be put in queue during this goldenage.
Hopefully to be a more or less significant site of production as soon as possible - rather than waiting 20 turns for fresh water to grow on.

To summarize: Growth first - weapons later.
My gut feeling is that my opinion on this matter is no longer significant. In case you have already agreed: Let me request that a worker improves my tiles. I cannot be specific at the moment, as I do not have the save open on this machine, but last time I checked thoroughly there was at least an unroaded thundra-with-forest tile, and a roaded grassland tile that needed attention.
