Report I said was it wasn't done for political reasons, but because of mental illness.
My first reaction was: what is the difference? Its like implying that people who plant bombs in civilian centers to kill innocent people when they're most vulnerable, and themselves while they're at it, are NOT universally suffering from some sort of mental illness.

Seriously though, will we be seeing a "Finns go Facist" film on Fox News after they apprehend they guy/guys who sent the bomber or will they turn the other cheek? I'm asking seriously, because I don't understand a thing about how the Finns react to these kind of things.

Investigations so far indicate that the perpetrator was a 19-year-old chemistry student. He also carried the bomb on himself, and consequently is victim #7.
The police is still investigating, but for now political motivations are almost entirely ruled out. So far for a organization being behind this (thank God). It appears he was plain and simply mentally ill.
He also loaded the bomb he carried with shotgun pellets to cause maximum damage among the people in the mall.
Investigated, charged, trialed and punishment by the letter of the law, perhaps?
(I don't want to start an ethics debate or insult any Israeli or Palestinian posters with this.)
Surely you acknowledge the difference between the suicide bombings in Israel and this case. 'Ordinary' suicide bombers in Israel leave messages and proclamations and kill people and themselves with a clear agenda in mind. This guy left no message (at least, none has been announced found) and apparently just did it to get attention for his own suicide.

Isn't it simply someone (of many) who wanted to commit suicide, but did at a "strange" place? Or perhaps by accident too early than anticipated?

I think it's clear the bomber wanted to kill others, what is not clear yet is the motive.

Everytime you see a reaction of "let's find out the resaon for it", instead of "let's destroy it", a new killer sees an opening.

Unfortunately the forum has been closed. That's almost a shame, the users of the forum could perhaps figure out who he was and his motive.

So how would 'destroying it' have put this guy off? Get real, he intended to kill himself and others, do you think he was frightened of the punishment if he was caught? What are you going to do with him, put his remains in jail as a lesson to others?
Yes, I think you have to understand a situation before you can deal with it. That doesn't mean you have to condone it or encourage it. Only once you understand it can you figure out the best and most effective way to deal with it.

Out of interest, can you show me any terrorist group that had significant public support that was successfully 'destroyed'? I've tried to think of one but I just can't...
Black September had a signifcant public support in the Arab world due to their attack of the 1972 Munich Olpymic Village attack, which killed 14 Israelis after they raided the village. The German Police sniper missed the shot and caused Auto-fire to be fired into the hostages, killing the lot of them before the terrorists fled the scene.
In retaliation for this attack Israel sent Mossad agents in pursuit of anyone who was even remotely involved in the inicdent - when our troops tracked down each and every one of them and introduced them to a hot kiss of lead, the organization scattered out of fear of further retaliation.
