"Terrorist attack" thwarted in NYC

So if someone came to you expressing plans to rob somebody, instead of trying to talk him out of it you would egg him on and make sure he went through with it so you could call the police at the last minute and get him sent to jail?

Is this how we should interact with one another?
Depending on who that person was and what exactly was the plan, I might try to change his mind, yes - thereby also taking the risk that he only pretends giving up, finds another accomplice and still carries out the plan (and also possibly attempts to gets rid of unwanted information leak - me).

I definitely wouldn't want law enforcement to take such risks, especially when we are talking about intent to commit mass murder. Would you?

So if I want to kill someone and I get entrapped, I should get let go so.... I can just kill the person anyhow?

Attempted murder, 20 counts.
He desperately wanted to do it, just because he was incompetent (this time) doesn't mean a thing.

Are you also taking the side of the man who would kill scores of innocents had he had the RIGHT pieces to his bomb?

Gasoline. Matches. 4-year-old.
