While still working on my ancient greek mod, i have a second project. Expected date of completion for both is unknown currently; i can work a lot on something but usually am lazy.

The mod starts at the end of the third crusade, as happens with Koei's synonymous game (Genghis Khan II).

Here is an image from the Byzantine lands:

I plan to make some more gfx for it, and finish the twenty different medieval sets (up to now i have ten, so may opt for just ten, we will see). The Theodosian Walls is definitely my favorite in this image :D

Playable nation list atm:

1)Byzantine Empire

2) Bulgaria

3) Serbia

4) Seljuk khanate

5) Holy Roman Empire

6) Hungary

7) Poland

8) Venice

9) Papal state

10) Sicily

11) Almohad sultanate

12 Ayyubid sultanate

13) Kipchak horde

14) Rus principalities

15) Novgorod

16) Prussia

17) France

18) Aragon

19) Portugal

20) Castille

21) England

I need help with completing the civ list, and maybe taking a couple of civs out of Europe, by having a big "neutral/all other" euro-civ (for ireland, scotland, serbia, bulgaria etc)

The map is the following one:

The starting date will probably be 1192, and i guess the ending is 1492, since that is when the map effectively becomes outdated.

There will be possibly 10 different city styles (unless this goes on for a year, in which case i will have made many more) simultaneously on the map. Two eras. 31 civs + Barbarians (now you can have barbarian held cities, with the new custom editor). All new static gfx by myself. New units from many creators (the medieval era is fleshed out considerably in the unit library).

If you want to help you can do so by providing any of the following:

-Accurate Europe-Asia-North Africa map of around 1200.

-Ideas for possible alliances (if any)

-Ideas for unit types

-Suggestions for non Byzantine great wonders

I will think of more later on. I hope you like this project :)

Thank you for the maps Lone Wolf :)

One idea is to have the 31 countries existent in KOEI's original Genghis Khan II:

I will also need a map of the main cities, at least those in Asia and Africa :)

Important note: it won't be "Prussia", but the Teutonic Order. The Duchy of Prussia did not exist until after the proposed time frame.

Sounds cool, but two issues arose:
1)Couldn't you just cut off the bottom of the map (everything Sahara and down), while expanding the size of eastern Europe?
2) As a Byzantinophile, I can't imagine you ignoring the Fourth Crusade. In Civ4, this would be very easy, but I don't know how you will handle it in Civ3 without getting into some silliness with spawned troops from wonders that was triggered through a dummy tech.

Isn't that... a bit too crowded?

Drop the papal states? I don't think they were doing much during that period? Or any other.

Unfortunately editing the map now would mean erasing all the work on it that was done. The sub-saharan towns willbe given to the neutral civ and/or barbarians.

I thought of starting the scen at 1261, but this would mean that there is a heavily fragmented balkan peninsula, and also no real cohesion in the rum seljuks. Also i did not want to have the ottomans as a faction with one city, since this would mean they would probably die, unless controlled by the human player, and i wouldnt want to focus my scen on the ottomans anyway.

Of course i could start the scen at an even later date, but that would mean it would be a great departure from KOEI's game, and also Europe was far more split into tiny nations by that time (?).

Prussia will be renamed Teutonic order (iirc it was Prussia in the KOEI game). Papal states will be given to the HRE i guess. Portugal is currently part of the neutral civ, along with Serbia, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Norway. Ideally i would want to have at most 18 civs in Europe, and the remaining 10 on Asia and 2 in Africa (Tripoli being part of the neutral civ) and the neutrals :)

On the issue of the map being crowded:

-Most of the cities are small, and do not produce much. The few main cities do the largest part of the work.

-I wanted to simulate critical battles, in that if you lose a city then it is very possible you will lose a few more surrounding ones.

You can't edit the size of a map once it is finished in Civ3?

"You need to build more farms!" "You need Iron to build that unit!"
