The Alexander the Great Project!

Looks more mature (but not old) than the last version.

Why different colours?

he looks older, really?......

the different eye color is a story or myth, supposedly caused by a concussion......

Honestly I could go either way. It might be cool to have two eye colors. I like the retexturing too. Should we make his hair a bit darker or leave it straight blonde?

EDIT: And I don't think he looks older at all, he looks either the same age or a little younger than the former skinning. I like the stubble too, gives it a better look.

the hair is quite a challange, but i was planing to go a little darker, but with some "highlights"

a very rough draft....(i'm going to be at this for a while), but just posting some progress for comments/suggestions......

from what i have done, i still plan to darken the hair some, but the "highlights" will be as light as the hair is now.....another consideration is to keep the current belt or to put in the scale armour at the waist, like in the miniature (i sort of like that idea, because it justifies the sword strap going up around the shoulder).....

any other observations welcome :)

Very nice so far, I like the direction you are going in. I also agree on the scale armor. I just put the belt there because the torso was too short, but it isn't too hard to add more to it, it was really a temporary thing. Actually when I sent Ekmek the files I put a file with and without a belt so I don't think anyone has any emotional attachment to it.

So far I think it is going great, the only issues I have with it are obvious ones and I'm sure you are already aware of them so I won't even waste your time with them. Can't wait to see what it looks like and keep us posted.

Any model issues that i need to fix (besides cheek rigging)?

dont think so, i have made minor changes to the mesh and a great deal of changes to the UV map, nothing, i think, that has affected your rigging so far, but don't waste your time making any other changes until i get it back to u.....

Great progress on Alexander! But am I the only one who thinks he looks like David Beckham???:-)

ok...maybe 60-70% done.....still got a ways to go.....i'll return to the face and try to "de-Beckhamize" him....i still have to do the sword....still got quite a bit of shadowing and uv mapping to do....

questions....how is the coloring on the armor?....is the pattern ok? (i tried to follow the mosaic as much as possible, with some artistic license :mischief:).....do u like the medusa head in the chest in leather (as is) or back to bronze? (as it was before).....

any other comments/suggestions welcome :)

I think the medusa head looked better bronze, but I'd leave the trim leather. And the scale armor might look better gold. But its looking fantastic, awesome job.

in general i would say i prefer the new version over the last pic (hard to say i perfer one great work over another one), but perhaps making only the medusa head again like made out of metal could help to highlight this part (atm i feel it could look a bit to much like the leather)

edit: i prefer the silver scales (but i also like the reference pic with the silver helmet more), perhaps silver would be also good to differ him from the bronze phalanx game unit

Well, since you ask, I think his hair should be a bit curlier.

bronze medusa, work on the hair...go it.....

as far as the scales, i will match up the color, more or less, with the helm and shoulder plates....

@The Coyote.....i woulf be very happy to make a "silver version" if u like (helm, shoulders & scale)
