The Ancient Mediterranean MOD

Öhmn its me again. I just asking myself why there will be an phoenician civilization and an carthago. carthago was an colonie of phoenicia. phoenicia where the big rulers of the mediteran long befor greeks where something you could talk about. Ok.. I can immagine why there will be phonicia and carthage. But the roots of carthage were that phonicia send a setler in ther unique unit ship to a place in the center of the mediteran sea and in near to their colonies in spain to build a new colonie which should grow up to be the trade center of the mediteran sea, long befor rome claim to rule over the mediteran sea. ;)

ok you wont be able to build an historical correct szenario untill you wont programm gigabytes of phyton for skripting it if you know what i mean, but i realy want to play rise of phoenician.

ps.: nice scenario i am awaiting 1.3

Also, the .exe is not working for me... I get an error :(

Heroes
- Illyria - Glaucius or Bardylis (?)

http://theillyrians.homestead.com/rulers.html

Regarding Bardhyli:
Bardylis - Usurper and founder of this dynasty. Reigned 385 to 358 BC. Bardylis was a Dardanian* coalman who acquired a huge popularity by dividing the spoils gained. Under his reign, the Illyrians nearly succeeded in destroying the kingdom of Macedon, however, in 359 BC, Philip the Great conquered the Illyrians. Bardylis made peace with Philip before dying in 358 BC at the age of 90.

Regarding Glaukus [NOTE: is/us are hellenized suffixes added to Illyrian names as they come from hellenic sources, ie Greek historians]
Glaukias - Ruler of the Taulanti and then Illyrian king from 317 to 303 BC. In 314 BC, Glaukias was defeated by Cassander, successor of Alexander the Great, who reclaimed possession of Dyrrachium and Apollonia and bound the Illyrian king by treaty not to attack the allies of Macedon. Glaukias is best known as the adoptive father of Pyrrhus, the famous Molossian prince and later king of Epirus.
King Glaukus expelled the Greek colonists from Durres (Dyrrahu/Dyrrachium) as well.

Another possibility, Agron:
Agron - Son of Pleuratus. Reigned from 250 to 230 BC. Agron had the most powerful force, both by land and sea and the greatest kingdom known to the Illyrians. His kingdom included much of Illyria proper, Epirus and the island of Corcyra. In 231 BC, Demetrius II, king of Macedon, pleaded to Agron for military aid against the Aetolians (Greeks). In a military defeat that rocked Mount Olympus, the brave Illyrian soldiers routed the mighty Aetolians and returned home with great booty. Agron, overjoyed with the news, drank himself into oblivion and died in the winter of 230 BC.

I had originally planned on making Bardhyli a leader of Illyria since it reached its zenith under his rule. The problem is, can't find any pictures or art on him anywhere.

I downloaded version 1.3. It gives me:

Maybe if you guys unpacked it in the Mod directory instead of c:\temp, it would work better...... :goodjob:

I can't even unpack it. Afer downloading wind up with a little screen icon which just flashes and goes away when I click it. Had no trouble with 1.2 and previous versions.
I do want to thank Thamis and his team for all their hard and creative work on this mod!

Eh, one more thought before I go to bed. I'm working on civilopedia entries for several things -- right now the UUs in particular. Obviously, I'm writing about several subjects where I don't have a high degree of personal expertise. Media Axeman
Kolchis Marauder
German Woodsman (axeman)
Illyrian Kambsor

Thamis, before you upload any other version, please speak with me first. It seems that some files that I updated were not included in this version. They are important for a) organizing the XML b) making sure text works properly c) making the Illyrians a playable civilization.

Please speak with me before you fix the download.

After having testplayed 1.3 now, here a short first review:

Problems

1 - Main problem
CIV IV TAM 1.3 crashes after about 60 - 80 turns (marathon speed) with no obvious reason.
tried about 4 times now with scythians and kolchis... every time the same

2 - Worker
When I train my first worker, i get a wierd message:
You trained your first archery unit.
…
You trained your first helicopter unit.

3 - Krisos
Shouldn’t it be Kroisos?

4 - Holy site
The holy site has two buttons

Suggestions free for discussion

1 - Map balance
The map feels still a bit empty in the early game. Could get worse if we change to a larger map in upcoming versions.
I like the way EE3 handels this: the capitals are already setteled and there are some historically based barbarian camps/cities that can/must be conquered.

2 - Number of men in a unit
I don’t know what you think about it, but imho larger unit sizes would look good. Making the legions more like legions, not just a bunch of swordsmen.

That's it for the moment.
And i'm not happy with the leaderheads. But thats my problem :p
Lars Porsena really looks bad for example.
Already replaced it for 1.4

If anyone has a good picture of
- Deiokes
- a hittite leader
- an illyrian leader
please link or post it here.
Thanks a lot.

I have problems with Tam 1.3.
It doesn´t work at all, crashes when I load it.
I can´t delete Tam1.3 from my computer, it says: can´t be deleted some other person or program is using this program!!!

To unpack it I used the right mouse button and chose unpack here...

One thing I noticed is that Legionaries have +1% City Attack. Shouldn´t be 10%?

First of all, thanks to all the people who have been working on the mod. There are a lot of good ideas in here. In my opinion, this mod is on its way to becoming a masterpiece. I've played v 1.2 with several things obviously missing (such as portraits and the civilopedia) and I still enjoyed it enormously. I can't wait to try the new version and see what improvements have been made.

I have a Spanish version of the game, and I have noticed to my surprise that several new units have spanish names, have you translated part of it?
If it were the case, and you need help to translate the rest, I would gladly offer mysef to help. I am Spanish, so it shouldn't be a problem.

Thamis, great job. I am going to download the Civ3 version as well.

Skin of the day (won't stay with that tempo for long :) ):

BERSERK

berserk_overview.jpg

Please enjoy in the next version.

And btw: making the other germanic UU a spearman - a ger-man - would really be a good idea.

Totally awesome Notzart! Amazing skinning you've been doing. I'd love to pull you to the dark side, er the Lunar Mod for some of your work. :)
