The Ancient Mediterranean MOD

Bright day
You are like soo totally awesome. I like totally like like you mod, it's like sooo kewl!

Seriously my Babylonians feel badly cramped. Plus south of Caspian sea- there is grain on hill and horses in forest- is that mistake or "design intent"?

A nice story found in roman anale:
About 10 years before Traian conquered most of Dacia and squashed their power, Diocletian had sent Fuscus with the intention of conquering. When Fuscus was about to cross the Danube, he received a warning: "We advice you to stop your advance. It is the time of the year when we pick our mashrooms and it will be very unwise of you to attack now." Of course Fuscus did not listen and he was beaten to death and had to make a hummiliated peace. This and the storyes about dacian tresures in a period of low budget enraged Traian and made him bring his army upon Dacia.
As you probably understood, those were special mashrooms. Maybe you can use them like a special resource that gives some berserk qualities to their units. As my opinion about their stats, agricultural is a good one. They had the Danube fields and this was another reason for romans to conquer. Not very aggresive, they should receive a wine-disadvantage. There is another story about Burebista, a king contemporary with Caesar, wich by the way, sided Pompey in his unwinig struggle against Caesar. He decided to cut all the winneries, to stop his people from drinking so much and to be able to organise them. This might be a good idea even for us, the romaniens nowdays. When you finish your imediate and important work, you will be able to consider adding mashrooms as resource, wine as penalty and Burebista as leader. Decebal is not the gretest, he is only the one best nown, and this especialy because romans rememberd him as the one they beat.

Nice work. Thx.
I will wait from you some great scenarios, as RFRE was for civ3.

But you're missing the 18th civ, Illyria! With the UU, Kambsor!

Regarding Python, maybe I can help you out! Tell me what you need done for python and I'll see if I can do it.

Just for fun and because I had some time to kill I browsed through the new unit skins to see if any might be of use in TAM. Some I think might be useable as UUs, others perhaps just to add some personality to each civ. I list the links together with the creator's description of the unit. I'm not sufficiently computer literate to download them and test them, so I have no idea if the animations, etc. are of any quality.

Got to say I loved Tam in civ III Played till my wife threatened to leave me.
Just started play the civ IV version and uhm I am sorry to say she is probably going to leave me for real this time.

Just a note kind of a wierd thing, playing as Romans in a Prince game and interestingly enough the Gauls weren't developing their Copper or their Iron. They had both in their territory but no mines, I felt so bad about it I havn't conqered them yet.

Just wanted to let you know Could be a bug or something.
Thanks for all the massively hard word you guys have put into this I am enjoying this way too much.

Now first thing, Thanks to Leptomeniges for the links, it's REALLY appreciated!
I will use them for V1,3 unless Notarzt comes up with better skins, since the job he did on the archer is just PERFECT.;).

Now for the UUs... Goths are NOT a TAM civ, so we don't need them
We need UUs for Hittites though...
As for Etruria, since it was assumed that they would probably not be in TAM, we don't really need it, as Illyria will be the replacing civ fot it, but I gotta check it with Thamis.

Alright, check with Thamis, but even without removing any civs, there are currently 17, and a game can support 18, so it would still fit nicely. But I am for removing civs that weren't part of the ancient mediterranean, since it doesn't make sense to have them in such a scenario!

1- Rome: Legionary (better Infantry, can build roads & fortresses), Praetorian (Heavy Spear w. city defense +50%)
2- Egypt: War Chariot (better Chariot), Libyan Mercenary (Spear with 2 moves)
3- Carthage: War Elephant (better War Elephant), Libyan Mercenary
4- Iberia: Slinger (better Archer), Armoured Slinger (better Comp. Archer)
5- Gallia: Gallic Swordsman (swordsman with 2 moves), Knight (Heavy Cav with defense bonus)
6- Germanic: Woodsman (Axeman with forest bonus), Berserk (weaker than infantry, but with significant bonus vs melee)
7- Babylon: Elite Archer (better Archer), Elite Comp. Archer (better Comp. Archer)
8- Mycenae: Hoplite (better Spear), Triere (galley with +1 str, +1 move, +1 transport)
9- Scythia: Fierce Horse Archer (faster horse archer), Fierce Heavy Horse Archer (faster...)
10- Lydia: Medium Cavalry (stronger light cav), Hoplite (better spear)
11- Phoenicia: Triere (see mycenae), Merchant (galley with no str, +3 transport)
12- Getae: Falxman (Swordsman with +75% str in hills), Peltast (javelineer with 40% withdraw)
13- Persia: Immortal (swordsman with +20% city attack), Medium Cavalry (see lydia)
14- Medes: Wild Axeman (+15% str), ????????
15- Britons: Marauding Swordsman (amphibious), Swift Chariot Archer (30% withdraw)
16- Kolchis: Maraudig Swordsman (amph), War Chariot (see Egypt)
17- Goths: Huskarl (armoured inf with +20% city defense), Knight (see Gallia)

I got that list from the UU list, I could be missing some... but, come to think of it, a significant portion of these civs aren't even on the Mediterranean; aside from those already mentioned, the Britons as well.

And now the composite archer.
The 3D-model is from the original archer, so my main goal was to make it
look different from the already skinned standard-tam-archer.

Composite Archer is vested in light leatherarmour with roman-style pauldrons. He has a small leatherhelmet and blond hair. The skin is a bit paler than the standard archer to increase the contrast to the brown armour. The bow is darker than the standard archer's one and of the same wood as the arrows. The teamcoloured sash now has a silver buckle (was golden). The quiver is similar to the standard-archer in brown leather but with silver applications at the top end and without the feathers. The bracer goes around the forearm like the vanilla archer. The skin is completed by a black belt with a silver buckle.

Next skin on my ToDo-List:
Bowman. It will be a reskin of the longbowman with some kind of greek clothen vestment an a bronze/copper helmet.

I asked the same question in another subforum, but probably someone here can help me quicker.

How do I chance teamcolour-areas on the models? They always seem to stay the standard way. No matter what I do.

Any suggestions?

Will you finally consider the units i suggested for the iberians?

Forget my posting 2 above, I found out how to change teamcoloured areas.

Ok , here are the UUs that are now in the mod. Any suggestions? I need game balance and historical stats inputs, and also, these are de tag names, so if specific names come up to your mind, feel free to share your thoughts!;)

Specific names for Germanic warriors:

If you search google for famous germanic warriors, you will most likely find:
- berserkers (as already implemented)
if you search a little bit more, you eventually come across the
- einherjar (also member of the germanic fighters caste)

so woodsman could be replaced by einherjar.
