The Egyptians (e.g. Khemetians) refered to all of the nations east of the Sinai as asiatics. Usually with an added hated and/or accursed thrown in for good measure. So there is an ancient precedent for refering to so-called middle-eastern cultures as asiatics.onedreamer said:Well, Persia is in the Middle East and I wouldn't list mesopotamian cultures as asian cultures.
If you mention Asia I would think of India, where as far as I remember, Alexander wasn't so damn successful.
Even though they are very generic sounding, I believe that you have hit on a good solution to this issue.Ick of the East said:Instead of Cult of Amon-Ra why not Cult of the Sun God? That way it would fit smoothly with any discoverer.
Others could be:
Cult of the Moon God
Cult of the Mountain Gods (instead of the Olymic Pantheon)
Ancestor Worship (very early)
Cult of the Earth Goddess (Early)
Cult of the Bull (Minoan, or Mithraism)
Fire Worship (Zoroastrianism)
Animism (Druism) (Very Early)
Monotheism (Judaism)
The Trinity?
There should be some others.
I know this takes out some historic religion names, but whenever I see the Germans discovering Judaism, I just have to cringe!
That is just so wrong. Whereas if they discover Monotheism, it is no problem.

I am not sure, but my impression is that in the ancient times the ships were able to cross the mediteranean sea (i could be wrong though). It's annoying for me if i want to go from Greece to Egypt to take a large tour through Sicily or Lebanon and not cut directly through the open sea. Anyway, if its hotorically accurate, it ok.
