It's too pretty and perfect, I hate it. Besides, I don't like using graphics from other games that I'm familiar with.

Also its not the first time civ4 mods have used graphics from other games.
*wiggles fingers* you know you want it.
Its so shiny and comes in 3 colors blue, green or gray (or any other color you can change the hue to)

It just doesn't fit, the style of EA games really clashes with the style of Firaxis / 2K Games.

Tell that to Soren Johnson.
He left Civ to work on Spore (aka EA/Maxis). So in a sense Spore has a little civ in it after all.

That may be so, but the two styles still clash, an old ragged classy feeling of Civ vs. New Windows Aura look of Spore, they just don't mix well.

Still, it's gotta flow right, my second button is multi-colored, it goes well with the other buttons.

I don't know yours still looks a bit messy. I would try to draw it but I don't think I could get it symmetrical enough.
Here is how the other could look. I like this one better than the blue one. I think its fits the simplistic civ style while still looking crisp and symmetrical.

Galaxies aren't symmetrical though, I can redraw it tomorrow for a more cartoonish feeling to it if that'll make you happy.

How is this? I used your color style with gradient of blue from the arms to the white center.
EDIT: Added a more contrasting one. But I think the left one looks the best.

Well I took this picture added god knows how many filters and ended up with this.
EDIT: Okay, I'm thinking a galaxy for the button isn't the way to go, I'll grab something else for a place holder.

The picture is not too bad. Another suggestion would be using a picture of the moon as an icon.
