i am new to the civilization triligy , and i have just bought bts. i am just wondering what is the best map type i should play on. im not a big naval player, but i just want a map type with lots of resources. and what size should i chose? Thnx in advance.

I would choose the "Big and Small" maps. It's fairly assured you won't be isolated and still have a good amount of land to expand, and if you don't, you can claim some islands.

Hi

New player. Not into naval battles. Wants lots of resources.

That sounds like game you want is custom game. With thse settings. Pangea Map, Low Sea Level, Balanced Resources, Standard size, epic or marathon speed.. First two options mean navy pretty much unecessary. Balanced resources means good starting resources highly likely to spawn near your starting point. Standard means not as many oppenents and smaller maps get filled a lil faster so barbs not a problem as much. Epic speeds tend to favor the player becuase AI has harder time dealing with it.

Hope that helps :)

You could also try some Earth 18, which gives you lots of AI interaction as well as a large map with a lot of resources. I like training up on Earth maps because they retain the same features when you load up a new Civ and I generally know my way around, so most of the work is remembering terrain features.

I would agree with KaytieKat other than the map size. If you want to have some practice games I would try either Small or Tiny map sizes. Those games play faster and it will allow you to experiment with different Civilizations and different play styles.

Well, really, your not a noob. Your a newbie. Many people refer noob to newbie but in reality, that's not the same as they thought.

Defining noob, he or she is a newbie pretending to be an expert. Your not a noob because you ask. Your a newbie, which is new to this things.

Personal tip:

Newbies need easier maps. When I played this for the first time, I set it to inland sea and set the teams. I have some 4 AI controlled allies and 5 enemies. No naval battles here unless if your in MultiPlayer, "civaddict", an expert, will attack you by the sea.
