If you go to page 3 (as of now) there's a number of older challenge threads which may find good enough to link with your OP.

Your country becomes a maw for every last cereal and seafood there is.

Well, I did play until 2043 AD, which gave me ample of time.

What civilization did you play as? France has both a great growth and GP modifier.

I tried Romans, with Rome 1E, and greeks, with capital on marble (Korinthos). And both of them grow not too fast.
I suppose few world wonders was built in Mykenai and few specialist settled before France spawned? In one fine day I will try the same ;D

"cereal" capped on 20 food. I suppose with "sushi" the same. It is only 10 pop unfortunately. At least in svn451

City states provides 1food for each specialist. Better birthrate> more specialists.

That means that those 20 food make 20 pops as specialists net consume only 1

Yup, settled about 4 GP and built the GLighthouse and Glibrary.
Constantinople is a fine spot too if you want to do an OCC.

109 pop too, but much earlier, in 1983 ;D
Again Mykenai on Amiens spot, not easy to found better place in Europe. Coastal, a lot of food, few grasslands for cottages, which are useflul right after flipping. Research rate was just amazing, also as production - 1knight each 2 turns.
All classical wonders, except Pyramids and Sphinx was built there.
Every single GP settled in city, including great generals, as a result, after I adopted city states (~in 1730y), city had 150~ food!
But ufortunately, only 14 merchats settled in city, and about 30 another specialists, if all of them were merchants, it is would be +30 food! And "cereal" only +11 ;[
2.000.000.000+ population in one city ;D

Nice! I didn't manage to build that many wonders (I'm not really good with the classical civs) and adopted city-states earlier than you (1400 AD, right after building the Blue Mosque).
I think the spot one N is slightly better, but it flips to the Dutch and might get autorazed (haven't tried it yet).
Yes, I also got 'only' 11 food with Fishing Industry, but considering it allows you to run 11 citizens, which all give 1 hammer, 2 beakers, 2 culture and one espionage in each city the industry is in, it's not that bad either :p

A bit early. City states - expensive civic, besides, hurts stability. I preferred at first to build National Park and eliminate Germans.
City even with 60 pop will consume at least ~30 food without National Park. Unhealthiness do not allow city to grow fully. I adopted city states much later, but I prepared everithing I need. As a result, city got 1 population each turn, until it reached 80 pop! Without any unhealthiness ;D Perhaps, that is the reason, why I reached 109 pop earlier.
After i have seen such amazing growing, I thought that I will reach 109 pop maybe even in the beginning of 1900s. ;d But after 80pop growth became slower and slower.
btw, I continued the game, and even now with 130 pop city continuing growing each 6 turns ;D
I will upload screens and savegame few days later, when city will become stagnant, if it will become stagnant...
