The Capo's LH Gallery and Self-Help Thread!

I have a suggestion for an alternative. :) You could just give her the normal sleeves, you know? If I remember correctly, the Celts did wear them...

Well, I'm not going to do that. Well, maybe, but it would suck because I'd have to completely replace everything.

Capo, I want to add shaders to your Dusan LH, but when I try to open it in Blender I get a Python error. Any ideas why?

Well, I tried out some other animations on Cartimandua, and it looks like I might have to change her body.

Sucks, and will take more time, but it's the only thing I can do.

I have no idea. I think that LH is from an old old vesion of Blender, like the original one I started on. So I'm not exactly sure what you can do about it.

I am going to redo Cartimandua's torso, but in the meantime I changed Ptolemy's collar to the original texture from Hatshepsut. I think this looks a little better, but what do you guys think?

I'll probably retexture the trim on the collar to match his crown.

I like that there's blue in the collar (it makes the eyeshadow stand out less). At the same time, I kind of miss the black. Could you perhaps hybridize them (keep the blue in the insignia but change the dark blue striping to black)?

I'm okay with it, but maybe you could make it smaller and not so "WHOA that's a lotta make-up there!". i.e. the eyeliner wouldn't be as jarring if you downsized it a bit.

That's the way it is traditionally worn on men, up to their eyebrows. And what exactly is bothering everyone about this? It's like the third person to say something about it. If everyone hates it I'll just take it off, but it took me a long time to get it right.

^I mean I don't mind it either, but I guess everybody else is just not used to that kind of thing, so maybe if you make it smaller it won't stick out too much to other people. Of course, you do have ultimate power over what to do with this LH, so... ;)

I think it's good, especially with the blue in the collar complimenting it. The eyeshadow is authentic, but it's a sight unfamiliar to most modern audiences. Also, when it was the only blue in the picture, it really drew attention to itself. Now, I think that it works much better; please don't get rid of it.

I think if it's just the colors that are annoying everybody, you could also just tone down the color itself and make it less bright or something.

Well, I'll try to tone it down a little, but if I do it too much it will look grey. Anyway I am working on Cartimandua's new body, and I took cybrxkhan's advice and gave her a long-sleeved shirt. It is from Ekmek's Maria Teresa and it is a little difficult to get the collar textured correctly, but I'm working on it.

Here's a much better image. I obviously have a lot left to do as far as sizing it goes but I think this is a pretty good indicator of what it will look like. I actually like this much better than the previous idea, I think the green and red trim on the clothing ties it all together pretty nicely.

I actually liked the 'old' collar as it was different from the one we already have. I am ok with there being some blue in it (it should not just be the makeup imo), but to me a collar which is predominantly gold with some blue would be preferable over one which is predominantly blue.

Does everyone hate the eyeshadow or something?

Keep it, it is rather accurate, if unusal today.

You know, she looks very Christmassy. Miss Claus. :D

Anyhow, looking good as always.

Now that really sucks! I really wanted to shader it, but I guess I won't.

I don't know if somebody told you that (or maybe you noticed it yourself), but your Ptolemy has something that looks like a white moustache. Since it is based on Pericles, I guess that this is what happens when you remove the facial hair. I think you should make it disappear because it looks weird.

I didn't really notice it (probably because I am used to looking at it shadered) but now that you mention it, and in its non-shadered form it does look a little strange. I think it isn't as apparent with shaders. It has nothing to do with Pericles, because I totally redid the texturing so I can fix that pretty easily. I have messed around with a lot of different possibilites for the collar, and I think what I finally come up with will be good. I only have a few hours to get these guys done (well according to my schedule at least) so for now I'm going to get to work and not worry about a preview. If you don't like what I come up with in the end, sorry, either edit it yourself or don't download it.

I'm off to work, I'll try to get these guys up as soon as I can. :goodjob:

Unfortunately I have to leave now, so I won't be able to get these guys finished tonight.

I should be able to finish them by the end of the weekend though, so sorry if I got anybody's hopes up. I will say that Cartimandua is looking pretty good. once I get the texturing, shading, and light correct (as well as a few edits to the model, particularly her shoulders and chest area) she should look pretty good. Here's a screenshot from the game. This is not the finished product at all, not even close, but it is a good example of what she'll look like. I have to soften her shoulders/arms a bit, fix some of the areas around where her arms and chest meet, try to get rid of that seam on her neck, retexture her dress and retexture her crown and she should be good to go. The rest of the fixes on Nasser, Ptolemy and Clovis are very minor ones so all four of these guys should be up pretty soon.

The next round is going to include Lalibela, Maurits van Nassau, Kamehmeha, and a yet to be named Hittite leader. I am also going to add shaders to Amenhotep III (Pharoah in my gallery), Richelieu and Cleomenes. That stuff is in the not-too-distant future though. Any suggestions for Cartimandua (besides the stuff I mentioned before) would be appreciated. :goodjob:

Merry Christmas Christians!

You know, from that picture, she looks kind of creepy with that whitish ghostly shirt and the mist in the background.

:p

Anyhow, I also like the Christmas coloring on her. :p

But she's looking good, to be serious. Hope you can fix up her problems soon.
