The Crucible

Due to ease of internet access and the incident with the carrot I will be moving game start to this afternoon EST(so about 6-8 hours after this post for the non ESTers).

Anyone with edits to make try to get them in and everyone with nations to make hurry or compete with NPCs.

Looking for at least 1 each of American(preferably central) or African(preferably south) new nations if you need guidance. Would also be fine with Eastern Europe, Australasia, the Middle East or Canada but those last two would be really tigh

Government of the Empire of Spain

The Empire of Spain is a constitutional monarchy. The King of Spain, Juan Carlos I, has reigned since the 1931 Crisis which toppled the monarchy of Alfonso XIII. A popular revolt against the seven day coup government placed Juan Carlos on the throne, who presided over the Madrid Convention of 1932, which redefined the powers of the monarch and the legislative Congress of Deputies.

Today, King Juan Carlos enjoys popular support, but little real political power outside of some symbolic legislative and executive power. The head of government is the Prime Minister of Spain, Manuel Azaña.

The Republican Party of Spain forms the majority party of Spain and represents a coalition of Spanish capitalists and middle-class managers, but enjoys support of the working classes because of favorable trade conditions as of late.

The leading opposition party is the Socialist Party of Spain, which calls for even greater welfare programs to support Spain's lower classes, and for progressive tax reforms that would move wealth from the top to the bottom, a policy many capitalists and swathes of the middle class are opposed to. However, the socialists enjoy support from the many unions in Spanish cities across Iberia.

The liberal Republican Party of Spain finds itself at odds with various reactionary and nationalist parties within Spain for its accommodating foreign policy.

The world rises anew from the ashes of the old order. Can you survive? Or will your nation crumble?

Ailed still needs to provide Ministers. Check the Unit Creator for the list of approved UUs. JoanK informed me he plans on joining in Australia and other new joiners are allowed.

NPCs. You can spend money to ally with NPCs. Highest spending is the NPC's ally. Think City-States in Civ 5. NPCs provide a listed bonus(See Politics Post) to their ally. NPCs with Unique Units(there are 8) will sell their unit's production licenses for 1/3 of the unit's cost per License(rounded down). Allying with them will drop the price to 10% of the unit's total cost. This is using the cost for the unique unit itself, not the base version.

If you want to attack and conquer NPCs, go ahead - there are no unusual repercussions. NPCs start with substantially weaker armies than PCs(1 Infantry, 1 AA gun, 1 Cruiser, 2 Destroyers[Czechoslovakia and Mongolia excepted], 1 Fighter and 1 Bomber, plus one of their UU for those with UUs). Just know that once an NPC is gone, it won't return, and the bonus it provides will be lost forever.

LET THE BUTT WHOOPING BEGIN!

NEWS FROM THE SPANISH FOREIGN MINISTRY

MADRID TO INCREASE FOREIGN AID TO LISBON. Madrid, Empire of Spain. The Empire will be sending economic aid to its Iberian neighbor aid in January. "Spain has long seen the Kingdom of Portugal as a friend in the region," a spokesman for the Spanish Foreign Ministry said to reporters at the Madrid news conference.

PEACEKEEPING OPERATIONS IN MOROCCO, CANARY ISLANDS. Seville, Empire of Spain. Spanish forces are massing on the southern coast of Spain in preparation for restoration actions in the restive territories of Morocco and the Canary Islands. Spanish officials have stated that, "Spain recognizes the CAD's authority in former French Algeria and hopes that the two countries can build productive diplomatic ties in the future."

THE FUTURE OF FRANCE? Madrid, Empire of Spain. Madrid has extended hands across the region to Berlin, Naples, and London to discuss an equitable division of former French territory in Europe.

PRODUCTION LICENSES FOR SALE. Marid, Empire of Spain. The government announced that it is willing to negotiate the sale of production licenses of two of its unique units with willing foreign governments.

SPANISH BOND BUYING. Madrid, Empire of Spain. Finally, the government announced willingness to purchase foreign bonds over the next few months. Some elements of Spanish society have decried the government's funding of foreign ventures, but the Republican-led government stated that responsible investment of savings is necessary to counteract the effects of inflation on savings.

I already provided ministers (although I confess I forgot to put the skill on my military minister... I will edit now). As for my UU I will have to get to it tomorrow I will confess; I apologise for the delay.

As one of the two major francophone nations left Belgium requests the right to join in on negotiations. We will not recognise any treaty for the partition of France unless we are consulted on the matter.

OOC: You're included. I didn't see your yellow on the map.

IC: We apologize for leaving Belgium off the list.

New Factory in Guangzhou:
Today local officials celebrated the groundbreaking of a new Factory in Guangzhou. The factory is going to produce new clothing and is expected to bring new economic growth to Guangzhou. According to mayor Hong Chen: "We are very excited to have this new factory. The economic situation is not very good right now, and we hope that this will be alleviated with this factory." Guangzhou has been one of the hardest hit cities in the nation during the Depression, and economic conditions are still stagnant. The factory is expected to be completed this summer.

In the meantime, Egypt does not approve of the Spanish intervention in Morocco. At all.

Unless the Confederation of African States has a treaty with Spain regarding Morocco, the Republic of Naples disapproves with this action as well. If the Confederation does in fact have such a treaty, Naples frowns upon the deception regarding our own pact.

The Confederation doesn't recall any segments in their pact with Naples limiting our ability to accept Spanish forces restoring order in Morocco?

Our problem is how you choose to keep us out but let Spain waltz right in. But nevertheless, Naples will drop the topic and focus on its expansion into Switzerland and Austria instead.

I request to be NPC'd until my return next Tuesday evening.
