INDUSTRIALISATION PROGRAM ANNOUNCED

Prime Minister Attlee today announced the construction of new industrial complexes in England and Scotland, the first such schemes to be commenced since before the Great Calamity of 1926.

Mr. Attlee declared that Britain would regain the economic status she had prior to the Great War, and that prosperity for all would be attained within the decade.

This announcement has led to some discord among the ranks of the Labour Party, who are uneasy at their leader's 'very capitalistic stance'. Labour MP Oswald Mosley, sometimes considered a radical socialist, savagely attacked the development bills in the House of Commons, claiming that the Government was 'filling the pockets of the parasites who caused the Great Calamity', and who would 'enslave the workers of the world in a manner more ghastly then seen before in the dark annuals of human history.'

OOC: Yep, hardline communist Mosley. He did start out as a socialist...

I am going to be slightly late with orders tonight because of an impromptu meeting. I should have them in before six, however.

Q&A

Indian President Gauri Dalal treated the Star to an exclusive interview today, in which he outlined his plans for the year.

Q. Hello, Mr. Dalal. Thank you for attending. Shall we begin?
A. Thank you, Ms. Lane. I am happy to start.

Q. Your nation is at the forefront of economic capacity this year, Mr. Dalal. Are there any plans to capitalize upon that?
A. Indeed. India has been downtrodden in the past, but now our people are showing their true colors, and I have no doubt they will continue to prosper due to the Indian work ethic. However, we hope to pave the way by investing in factories, along with prominent capitalists such as Mr. Bakshi, as well as by bringing order to new lands.

Q. Many opponents of your rule have criticized your expansionist policies. Are you committed to such a course of action?
A. I am. It is for the best. The lands outside our borders are disorderly and chaotic, and by bringing Indian peace to those lands we can continue to prosper and thrive as we have in years past.

Q. Do you have any plans to expand the military in order to help bring new lands under the Indian banner?
A. There are no plans for that at this time. I see it unnecessary to force young men into service. This is not North America.

Q. And, finally, what is your stance on nuclear bombs?
A. At the moment, we see them as barbaric and needlessly destructive.

Q. Thank, you Mr. Dalal
A. Any time, Ms. Lane

New Textile Mill in Calcutta

The Indian government has announced plans to pay for half the cost of a textile mill in Calcutta, which official government spokesperson Amon Bahl said is "Working toward replacing many of the mills which were destroyed in the chaos in previous years." The rest of the cost is to be put up by several wealthy capitalists, including the recluse Mr. Bakshi, who made his fortune arms dealing in World War I. It is unknown whether there are similar plans in other states, but rumors abound that an automobile plant may be under construction in Mysore. Critics of the project say that funds spend there could be better used... [Continued on A4]

Monetary Aid Sent to Pakistan

After the devastating famine last year in Pakistan, the Indian government has stated their plan to send nearly $50,000,000 dollars in aid, as well as several thousand tons of grain, in order to relieve the pressure. While many, including the Pakistani prime minister, hail it as "the return of goodwill" between the two old enemies, other, more cynical, commentators have called is "a propaganda scheme... a bribe in return for an alliance". Indian leaders have denied any compensation for the gift, but a leak three days ago stated that plans for an alliance may be underway. The famine, which began last fall, has already had a reported death toll of... [continued on C5).

OOC: Orders will be in soon.

To Russia, Ottomans
From Naples

Once again, we would like to note that we are claiming the Western Balkan province. We hope that you have divided the rest safely, and that no war will break out.

To the remaining nations who have not yet accepted the invitation
From the Italian Football Association and PM Ignazio Vincenzo Pirlo

Will you be attending the tournament? The sooner we get a reply, the better the tournament will be, and the more nations will be able to compete.

Activating my DP with Yucatan. Declaring war on Texas.

Im crying foul on this one. Its complete crap.

Let us outline some parts of this shall we?

One, I am not the aggressor. How do we know this? By a simple look at the events that occurred last summer.

1) Take a look at unit deployment. Now look at the locations of the command units. My commanders weren't even deployed, while the Yucatan had their admirals and generals deployed to the battles as needed. If I was going to start a conflict, why would I have NOT deployed units that give me a bonus in battles?

2) Now take a look at the air forces deployment. You will notice the Texas air force did not move from Texas. Meanwhile, 2 bombers of the Yucatan air force participated in the attack on Mexico City. If I started this conflict, why did I leave my air force,e my greatest weapon, at home?

3) Yes, you read the above right. In game, Yucatan attacked Mexico the province. It is possessed by the Alamo and is contested by the Yucatan in the stats. Clearly that means I held it and then the Yucatan invaded and contested it, according to the rules. Right?

Now, lets look at the current crisis of the USA.

1) The USA has a DP with both the Yucatan and the Alamo.

2) Earlier this evening right after orders lock, red spy was on chat and heavily implied that he was joining the war on my side. This led to me encouraging him to send troops to vital areas in my plan, essentially revealing my movements! He all but said he was joining on my side. But later on, as LH is calculating battles in chat, red reveals that he is on the side of SS after all!

3) Red claims I am the aggressor because I didn't sign the offered peace treaty. I am sorry, but I was busy last night, and I had college orientation all day today. I didn't have time to send in a new set of orders from those I had already sent in days ago! Aside from that, not signing a peace treaty does not make one an aggressor by any definition of the word. Not signing a peace treaty is a VERY flimsy excuse for activating a DP against somebody.

4) The USA is a nation of traitorous scum, scum who wouldn't even activate their DP in public before orders lock as an honorable nation might do. Today is the day where I find who I thought to be an ally in this game, who turns around and stabs me in the back for no reason at all! Oh but wait, there IS a reason.

Red openly said in chat this evening that he had a DP with both of us and there is no clear aggressor, so he 'chose the side that suited him best'. And the best part? After he reveals he is betraying me he says 'This is what happens when you start on my borders'. Oh Im sorry, I didn't realize there was unlimited space on this map, because there isn't! He betrays my nation, but not only that, he leads me to believe he is joining on my side and therefore gains access to my plans while he is betraying me! Sure, this is bad foresight on my part. Perhaps I should have suspected something like this. But an ally does not simply betray an ally.

Just remember, peoples of the world, the USA is willing to betray you whenever it suits its needs, whenever it thinks it can get something from such a vile act of betrayal. The Yucatan is little better, but at least they did not pretend to be a friend before they attacked us!

For the Alamo! The Alamo will stand against the traitorous scum! The Alamo will stand!

Clearly, it is all your fault for being incompetent. If you reveal your war plans to your allies and you make no alternative plans or prepare just in case you are betrayed, then it is only your fault for having no foresight. You should have reserved units and ordered them to be used against USA in case it betrays you. And, most importantly, only reveal general information to your Allies or even give them false information if you do not trust them. Never trust your allies and always prepare for the worst.

The USA was just smarter and managed, using deception, to caught you unaware.

MEXICAN WAR NEARLY OVER

The Alamo and the Yucatan have fought through Mexico and Durango provinces for the entire winter, railroad guns, artillery and tanks blowing huge holes in formations and men. After a dramatic aerial defeat over Mexico City, the entire Alamo air force sans a few bombers sent into Coahuila and the Caribbean has been annihilated. Alaska has joined the Yucatan as a protectorate and a submarine squadron from Anchorage has blockaded the ports of Cascadia. Meanwhile, the Californian coast explodes with a rebellion, unopposed by Imperial forces. Some Yucatan naval elements appear in the Pacific and blockade Baja and Sonora, leaving Texas and Coahuila(via the Caribbean) as Alamo's only trade ports. But then everything changed when the USA attacked. US troops seized Texas and the Great Plains with minimal resistance, and the USN blasted through the Alamo Fleet in the Battle of the Florida Keys. With the Caribbean closed, the blockade of Texas is complete. Barring major intervention from foreign powers, the Empire of the Alamo's defeat is only a matter of time, as with very few units left intact they have little hope of standing against the twin powers of America and the Yucatan.

In France, a large rebellion occurs in Occitania, managing to make inroads despite the heroic efforts of the Spanish military. The Occitanians are claiming that a united French state is a necessity for balance in Europe. Meanwhile, the African Confederation and the Ottoman Empire clash in Syria, after an attack by Ottoman forces on Confederate tanks blocking major roads and refusing to move. The battle was a resounding Confederate victory, with minimal casualties sustained. At the same time, Ottoman and Russian elements meet in Romania but the local Ottoman commander decides to retreat rather than face a determined Russian defense. There is no war at the moment between Moscow and Istanbul but tensions are high.

In Asia, Korea launches a mostly-successful invasion of Taiwan. The Taiwanese are hanging by a thread, but haven't given up yet.

Also lots of expansion and such but that's the big things.

To: Anyone trying to base planes and ships from provinces that lack airfields/harbors. Stop it. Doesn't work that way.

To: Terran. It's come to my attention that your capital is landlocked and your navy was somehow there. In the interest of balance I've given you a free harbor in North Urals to make upp for it and moved your fleet there.

Sorry this is late, had some internet issues lately.

PM Ignazio Vincenzo Pirlo demands an answer from the Ottomans in regards to their actions against the CAS.

Syria was a part of the Ottoman Empire; hence our attempt to claim land for the grace of the Empire.

I am partial to the idea of an independent Occitania.

I didn't get my claims, again.

The first time there was an error I noticed it and compensated for it on chat with you and you still couldn't resist trumpeting to everyone how wronged you were. This time, you got everything you seriously claimed and you're still making trouble. The ONE claim you missed was one that a cursory glance at the rules tells you is out of reach, so I assumed it was a joke claim.

Read the rules when you join a game, or stop complaining when your orders violate them.
