I am about to watch the 4th episode Knight VS Pirate.

It's not the most accurate show ...... and rarely would these type of warriors meet in an open field and fight, but man does it bring out the little kid in me  :goodjob:

What is it? Is it like a warrior v warrior version of the history forum here? Like all those thread about ''Romans vs Aztecs''?

Yeah, it's an entertaining show. I mean, you learn a lot of things about ninjas, pirates, spartans, etc., the sorts of weapons they used, how good they are, etc.

But I mean, what's up with the programmer dude? That guy just annoys me.. I am a programmer myself and just sort of chuckle when he's describing the "state of the art program" that pits these warriors against eachother, which looks like a freakin' Excel Spreadsheet  I mean, it'd be kind of interesting to hear a bit about how this "state of the art" program is supposed to work - but it looks to me like it's all BS and there to give the show a bit of legitimacy.

I mean, the show is cool in the sense that you learn cool facts about ninjas, samurai, etc. and the sorts of weapons they used, how effective they were, etc., but for the most part the show is just a bunch of guys going "no, my guy is better" "no way, mine is!". The child-like bickering between the "experts" (like, seriously, how do you become a "pirate weapons expert" anyway?) is really annoying, but it is pretty cool when they compare the short range weapons, then the long range, etc. But then the y throw a bunch of numbers into a magical excel spreadsheet, and boom, we have an answer!

So yeah.. cool show, but parts of it are annoying

I noticed the excel thing too

I am well aware and agree that the Spartan would beat the Ninja, buy the glass in the eye didn't slow him down statistically in the fights where it doesn't kill him. ...... Shouldn't it have, I don't know dropped his other stats for the rest of the fight?

Also: My favorite part of the show is the Trama Doctor in the show. Every dummy he walks up to "oh this guy is dead, this guy is hella dead, And as you can see we have some brain matter here, he is extra hella dead"

That "child-like bickering" is a real life version of Civfanatics! It's interesting and amusing to watch. When (or rather, if) they get to Praetorians vs Quechuas, then the real fun begins.

I FREAKING LOVE THIS SHOW!!!!!!!!
heres some future episode who do you think is gonna win?

Green Beret vs. Spetznaz

Shoalin Monk vs. Maori

William Wallace vs. Shaka Zulu ( god this show reminds me of Civ so much)

IRA vs. Taliban

Yakuza vs. Mafia was a great episode. The actors live-fighting at the end had me ROFLCoptering.

I think the Spartan vs. Ninja was 'meh'.

 IRA vs Taliban

No competition there, the IRA are a bunch of half wits.

The show is very entertaining, though the testing and the results often make me die a little inside. The 'experts' could also show a little more respect for each other instead of acting like 5 year olds who are playing war and go 'noooo you missed me!' when the other fired make-belief bullets at him hehe :D

The thing is, the show is on the 'man' channel, full of manly egotism, acted out by like MMA dudes. I'm impressed that they even use ballistics gelatin on the show. It's not the history channel or the military channel.

Don't get me wrong.

When I watch manswers ( man - answers ) I feel like my IQ drops 50 points. But it is a pretty awesome channel.

Though I should note, I am a "mma dude"

Sounds like a cool show idea. Unfortunately, from my memory on these types of shows, 99% of it is fluff (or stuff you could read in two minutes about each side on wikipedia) and 1% is actual simulated fights (or whatever the "meat" of the show is).

Perfect show to watch online though if you wanted to skim past the build-up. I will check it out. :)

I really like the show. I think the results are not reliable, but the show is great. It's like that one on (I think) animal planet where they pit various animals against one another.

Professional athlete?

I wasn't knocking MMA. I'm just saying the ultimate rationale of the show is to let some stuntmen do some cool action sequences, and to have a little bit of truth to back it up.

Oh no not a professional

12 years on and off Muay Thai

Still a while belt in BJJ. I do however love the sport.

And I agree with your analysis. Still like I said it brings out the kid in me "Ninja VS Spartan Mondo Cool!!!"

I had a very low comprehension of what you were trying to say (probably my fault) Sorry :cringe:
