The desert island game

I don't think he mentioned an Internet connection, which I'm pretty sure you need to be able to play Skyrim by the recent years' "piracy protection" mechanisms.

Assume it's a pirated copy, then. This is all theoretical, alright mods? :yup:

You've never enjoyed playing games like Azalea's Dolls?

Not really, never played it either ;) I can't find anything interesting about dressing up. So what's so special about Azalea's Dolls ?

The game I'd want. CIV IV BTS
The game that would be worse than death. CIV V of course

I'd probably take Dwarf Fortress. Never really played it, but it seems like the kind of thing that could keep you occupied indefinitely.

Why not give it a try? :)

You basically can take all kinds of settings and just make characters ... I don't understand what's not enjoyable about that? When you play a game like the Sims, how much time do you spend setting up your characters' appearance and outfits? You don't just pick clothing, you also build your characters and then can change outfits and accessories, and build scenes (which you can then download and save) There are hundreds of different scenarios you can do.

I mean, it's not something I'd want to do all-day every day, but it's a fun distraction :)

Can I have 10 years worth of Playboy instead?
Gross.

I was just thinking that I'd have a much easier time if we were playing "desert island discs", "desert island movies", or "desert island tv shows." I'm really not sure what PC game I'd want. Probably one of the Civ series, for its replayability, except none of the Civ series has ever quite satisfied me. Each iteration frustrates and intrigues me in equal measure ,and I'm not sure that's what I'd want for a 'desert island' game. Still thinking.

Civ 4 BTS with world builder would be high on my list. EU IV with its updates would be another. I'd be looking for max replayability and variation.

If we get all expansions included I'd go for EUIV. Thatd keep me entertained for a long time. Heck, even the base game would be fine.

Worse than death? The packaged unpatched version of Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines. Fun game but it shipped glitchy and unwinnable with game ending freezes. I think I'd start purposefully drinking ocean water if stuck with that.

Allright I'll give it a go once I am home and I'll post my creation :D :mischief:

Normally I try to minimize character appearance creation in RPG games. It began with Oblivion when I've tried to fix my character's playdough face . Failling that miserably I just downloaded some face mods to be done with it. Maybe it's why I dislike that part in RPG's , nowadays I usually go with prefabs for looks. ;)

What game do you want?
Civ 3
What game would you consider a fate worse than death?
I have an adventure game somewhere that advertised itself as one where it was impossible to get stuck. I couldn't get out of the first room. That would be horrible to be stuck with, and since I don't remember the name of it, it would be extra discouraging. I'd think I had a game, but I really wouldn't.

You mention laptop, which means trackpad and no mouse. I would have gone with Minecraft or something, maybe, or San Andreas. But without a mouse, playing FPS games is an absolute slog and robs me of any enjoyment.

So I guess I'd go with... Civilization 5?

I assumed that a wired mouse came along with the deal. But if it doesn't...my shake, rattle & roll would make it near impossible to use a trackpad. So...uh...actually, just give me a text editor instead. I can get some writing done.

I can't drag myself away from my eleventy-millionth game of Civ V* long enough to answer this question.

*Denmark, wedged in between Japan to the NE and Poland to the SW. Japan presents best target. I send my compound bows up, but he has enough miscellaneous troops to keep me from being able to lay effective siege to Osaka. Meanwhile, he sends his own army to attack Aarhus. He takes Aarhus, but I take Osaka shortly after. Not only that, but Kyoto is attackable, so I start to lay siege to it, when, of course, Poland attacks me. I send a few troops back for defense, but stick with my siege of Kyoto, and manage to take it. Now I've marched everyone back and driven Poland away (my capital held until I could get my army back). Meanwhile, Attila comes from the east. Can't tell who he's going after, but it could be me, so I pay him to invade Japan instead.

I'd prolly take PhotoShop or the Elder Scrolls Construction Kit over any game. most of the games I come up in my head are infinitely better than the real ones anyway :D

maybe the new version of Daggerfall that just came out would be a nice choice, lots of random elements there

I'd probably take Dwarf Fortress. Never really played it, but it seems like the kind of thing that could keep you occupied indefinitely.

agreed, never played it either. seems like the kinda game to spend your lifetime on.

Can I have 10 years worth of Playboy instead?

with all the spicy things available to you you choose.. playboy.

that's like someone asking you "hey boy what you want for your last meal?" and you respond "a dry toast and some room-temperature milk please. low fat, too."

maybe if I was born in the 1960s or something I'd consider it, but nah, not really
