The Cat States invade the Mouse Republic. The Dog Empire, having a mutual protection pact with the Mice (actually declaring them a protectorate) declare war on the Cat States.

The Cats prepare an army of 12,000 at Litter Bog and march through the Capran Woods, headed for New Dog House.
May 4, 1889
The Dog Empire recruits a militia of 5,000 to defend New Dog House. John Bingo, the Emperor of the Dog Empire and also a very good general, rallies the men and trains them in the fields near the city.
May 29, 1889
Cat armies are only 6 miles from New Dog House in the Capran Woods. Thousands evacuate New Dog House, while Emperor Bingo sets off with his army into the Capran Woods to confront the Cat armies.
June 2, 1889
Bingo's men meet the Cat army. They besiege the Cat camp in the early morning and bombard them as they wake. Almost 1,000 Cats die and only 4 Dogs are injured, as they flee back to New Dog House.
June 4, 1889
On their way back to New Dog House, Bingo's men are attacked by the Cat army. They put up a good defense, and kill 400 Cats, while only 60 of their men are killed. The Cat army begins a retreat to Litter Bog, and Bingo decides to follow them.
June 10, 1889
Bingo heads back to New Dog House to recruit more men and puts Colonel Poodle in charge of the ambushes on the retreating force.
June 25, 1889
The Bear Kingdom declares war on the Cat States. Using its large supply of iron, the Bears can quickly produce tanks and large ships to fight the Cats.
July 15, 1889
The Bears assault Rich Cat's Manor. The Cats surrender the town after a small fight, and use the soldiers from the town to reinforce the Capran Woods.
July 21, 1889
Even though the Bears could easily invade more of the Cat States's eastern territory, they send troops to help the Dogs in the Capran Woods. General Tiger of the Cat States requests 6,500 more men to fight in the woods.
August 8-9, 1889
During the night of august 8-9, the Cats create a series of dugouts 16 miles through the Capran Woods. Cannon and walls are installed to enforce the defensive stations.

To counter the Cat's trenches, the Dogs and Bears build lines 12 miles long.
August 30, 1889
The Mouse Republic looses two cities (Igloo and Cheeseland, its capital) to the Cat States. Up to two million Mice flee to the Dog Empire, which creates a huge refugee problem.

The Cats launch an offensive on the left flank of the Bear's trench. 80 Bears die, and the position falls.
October 24, 1889
The Dogs sieze three Cat cities (Nip, Paw City, and Tiger Woods) in the Cat Nip province, which supplies almost 1/3 of the Cats food and iron.

Large-scale starvation in the Cat States. The Deer Republic and Bird Alliance trade food to the Cats in exchange for incense and gems.
December 6, 1889
The Cat States's economy collapses. Riots break out in its remaining nine cities. One pledges allegiance to the Bears.

Just as the Bears and Dogs prepare for a huge 20,000 man offensive under Emperor Bingo to liberate the Capran Woods and Litter Bog, the Premier of the Cat States signs an armistice. Many members of the Cat parliament commit suicide. Thousands riot and kill.

In a humiliating treaty, the Cats return all cities captured to the Mouse Republic, give Litter Bog and the Capran Woods (rich in bananas and coal) to the Dogs as well as the Cat Nip Province, and Rich Cat's Manor to the Bears. Also, the Cats must pay more income than they can afford each turn to the Bears, Dogs, and Mice (120 gold to the Dogs, 100 to Bears, and 50 to Mice, while they only produce 117 per turn). A lump sum of diamonds, coal, iron, and incense are given to the nations as well.
