The Dual Alliance II

Mongols - Turn 73

The Roman empire, soon to be the northern portion of the great Mongol Khanate. :yeah:

Wow 2 tundra cities, a desert city, and the gem city far to the west. Smart settling by the AI ;)

Roman worker desperately tries connecting iron near Neapolis.

Scandinavian capital razed. Seven Viking slaves captured. Looks like the Iroquois will (temporarily) settle near the old Trondheim city site. Japanese spearmen ascend the iron mountian near Neapolis.
This shows the tactical situation just before the fall of Trondheim. The new Scandinavian capital is Bergen which is just on the left edge of the screen shot. The Scandinavian archer near Trondheim was annihilated after that city fell.

Mongols - Turn 75

A hardy lot of Mongol tribesmen founded another new settlement to the south, Ulan Bator (or rather, Ulaanbaatar or something).

6 turns to mapmaking. We hope our Japanese brethren will do construction or currency or similar next. I think the Iroquise have mathematics, which we can try trading for... The Mongol shamans will continue to dwell on the intricacies arising fr the art of writing. :)

And darn Roman spear on our horse tile. No additional forces to repel them... Darn. In the meantime, our LRRP (long ranged recon patrol :)) reaches outside the Roman iron - to find the Japanese already there. :hmm:

Our latest map, fr a time mapmaking hasn't been invented yet... :p

Seems a pity...

Will make a proper Japanese city on the other side of the river some day. Japanese spearmen near Neapolis leave iron mountain to make room for our Mongol brethren. :)

Copenhagen destroyed.

Mongols - Turn 76

Bought a worker fr Scandinavia, for polytheism (sorry, donsig :p). They got maths too, but I don't have anything to trade for it...

LRRP positioned; digging in next turn...

Evil Roman spearmen destroyed our horse tile road... They shall pay for the profanity with their lives. Mongol horsemen parked besides them. :yeah:

Begun training swordsmen...

Game will be emailed.

Troops resting up. Iroquois built a city directly across the river from old Scandinavian capital where I planned to make a proper Japanese city...

Mongols - Turn 77

Another minor Roman raid; one spear NE of Kazan, and one archer and one warrior trying to slip down the coast, in the east. :) Minor irritant...

We have one horsemen (who'd taken out that evil Roman spearmen BTW) and one upgraded swordsmen in wait. Once they're in position anyway...

Game emailed.

Japan - turn 77:

Some troops continue to rest as others move into place near Bergen. A band of Scandinavian archers advances on our resting troops...

Mongols - Turn 78

Archer got killed w/o even taking out 1 hp fr the Roman spearman. It's one of those days...

Suddenly out of the blue, we've discovered map-making. Sent it on to our allies in the south. Mongol shamans are now looking into a more advanced use for our writing skills (aka literature).

Game emailed.

Vikings want peace but will only offer math. Should capture Bergen next turn. May accept peace then so I can make war on the Iroquois. Lost a regular swordsman to a Viking Archer sallying forth from Bergen.

Edit: e-mail bounced back so I uploaded the save. :)

Initial attack on Bergen failed, Japanese horsemen routed. :( Swordsmen coming up (as shown below). Should take two turns to cature Bergen.

Mongols - Turn 80

Another new Roman city established... on the arid coast SE of Rome... :hmm: They want the horse tile I suppose...

Massacred a Roman spear and archer...

Game emailed.

The First Viking War continues as the big assault on Bergen has failed. Our elite 5hp swordsman unit lost to a regular 3hp spearman without causing any damage whatever to the latter.

As the war drags on Iroquois settlers dot the landscape...
